Northeastern University Reaches Three-Year Deal with Part-Time Faculty

Northeastern University announced that it has reached a three-year deal with part-time faculty, who were threatening to stop work next week over low pay and lack of benefits. As part of the deal, the university said it will provide part-time faculty with access to the university's three health plans - with a 50% contribution from Northeastern. Adjuncts will also receive "increased professional development opportunities, access to administrative support and meeting space, and discounted access to the Cabot pool and campus parking." The agreement also includes strong protections that preserve management and operational flexibility for the university. The agreement prohibits strikes and pickets during the life of the contract, which
will ensure that the faculty's focus remains where it should: on student learning.
Northeastern University Appoints Brian Sullivan as Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Effective December 18

Northeastern University has appointed Brian Sullivan vice president and chief marketing officer, effective December 18. In this newly created position Sullivan will work closely with the president and senior leadership team to develop and implement multi- year marketing and branding strategies that elevate Northeastern's global visibility. This work will build on the university's existing successes in marketing and communications. Prior to Northeastern, Sullivan was the director of marketing for the Boston Red Sox, a role in which he led the team's brand marketing efforts and spearheaded its marquee Calling All Kids youth initiative. He also supervised the expansion of the Red Sox social media presence to improve fan engagement, reorganized the team's advertising strategy, and launched the franchise's first-ever comprehensive promotional marketing strategy.
Northeastern University to Open Regional Campus in Toronto

Northeastern University will open a location in Toronto, Ontario, where it will offer professional graduate programs that are industry-aligned and tailored to meet the specific needs of learners and employers in the region. The campus in Toronto will expand Northeastern's growing global footprint, which includes its campus in Boston; regional campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seattle, and Silicon Valley; and more than 3,000 industry partners worldwide. Northeastern's expanding regional-campus network provides graduate-level education for learners in regions across North America. The portfolio of degrees offered at the university's Charlotte campus has increased three-fold since the 2011.
