The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Approves Agreement Between Union Bank & Trust Co. and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents has unanimously approved an agreement between Union Bank & Trust Co. and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The new agreement provides UNL $9.53 million over 11 years. It also provides Union Bank branch bank space in the Nebraska Union, eight ATMs across campus, license to use the UNL logo, the opportunity to support UNL student organizations and programming, and special account offerings for students, faculty and staff. The agreement begins in March. Union Bank was chosen through a competitive bid process. Earlier 2014, the university issued a request for proposals to all financial institutions with a presence in Lincoln and Lancaster County. Union Bank was selected after an evaluation committee examined the breadth and creativity of various proposals, plus vendor qualifications, marketing initiatives, account pricing and financial support.

University of Nebraska - Lincoln developed novel x-ray device powered by compact laser. Although the high quality of synchrotron X-rays make them ideal for research ranging from the structure of matter to advanced medical images, access to the technology has been limited until now. Most traditional synchrotron X-ray devices are gigantic and costly, available only at a few sites around the world. Nature Photonics, researchers at UNL's Extreme Light Laboratory developed a novel method to generate research-quality X-rays using a ‘tabletop’ laser.
Bayer CropScience and University of Nebraska--Lincoln Extend Collaboration Through Soybean Agreement

University of Nebraska--Lincoln (UNL) and Bayer CropScience announced that they are working together again to develop new soybean varieties. The company said that this collaboration focuses on UNL's soybean germplasm, the genetic material used to develop new soybean varieties. The agreement will also provide additional research experience and training for graduate and undergraduate students. Bayer CropScience can couple its significant R&D resources with the materials developed at UNL to create new lines of soybean varieties suitable for diverse climate conditions across the world.
