The Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives at Tulane University has formed a Board of Advisors to provide direction and advice for its strategic mission. The board includes local and national individuals who have expertise across several fields. The board will advance the Cowen Institute's initiatives through their personal and professional networks and contribute to the Institute's outreach efforts. President Emeritus Scott Cowen, who will serve as chair of the board. Tulane University announced that B. Michael Howard will retire as artistic director for Summer Lyric Theatre He will remain as a tenured professor of the Newcomb Music Department. C. Leonard Raybon, who chairs the music department, will serve as the interim artistic director and will be in charge of the 2015 season.

J. Davidson 'Dusty' Porter has been named the new vice president for student affairs at Tulane University. Porter's tenure will begin July 28, 2014.
Before his selection as vice president of student affairs by Tulane, Porter served for eight years as vice president of student affairs at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), in Baltimore, Maryland.
