IAC Signs JV Agreement with Shanghai Shenda

International Automotive Components recently announced a definitive agreement with Shanghai Shenda Co. Ltd. to establish a global joint venture, which will supply soft trim and acoustics products to automobile OEMs. Shanghai Shenda will hold a 70% stake in the UK-based JV which is valued at USD 570 million, while IAC will take the remaining 30% interest. The new firm will be named later.

International Automotive Components (IAC) continued its aggressive global expansion with the inauguration of its newest facility located in Hangzhou, China on July 14, 2015. The new Hangzhou location will employ more than 220 people and initially will manufacture door panel and center console assemblies for Changan Ford, along with door trim components for Shanghai General Motors and instrument panel and center console components for Chery Jaguar Land Rover. Reinforcing the company's vertical integration strategy, the new IAC operation will also provide a range of premium cut, sewn and wrapped interior components, utilizing highly crafted materials, such as leather, simulated leather and cloth solutions featuring an array of custom stitch patterns. At 78,577 square feet (7,300 square meters), the Hangzhou plant is strategically located near regional logistics hubs and several OEM customer assembly plants.

International Automotive Components (IAC) Group announced Robert S. "Steve" Miller will join IAC on July 20, 2015 and assume the role of president, chief executive officer (CEO) and director, effective August 7, 2015. He succeeds James K. Kamsickas, who has resigned as president, CEO and director, effective August 6, 2015. Kamsickas will become the president and chief executive officer of Dana Holding Corp. Miller previously serving as a board member of Federal-Mogul Corp. from 1993 to 2005 and as interim CEO during a portion of that period.
