Post Holdings Reportedly In Bidding For Weetabix

Post Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:POST) is reportedly is among a competing group of four companies bidding for Weetabix Limited. Post is up against Associated British Foods plc (LSE:ABF), Barilla Holding S.p.A. and Cereal Partners Worldwide S.A., which are also interested in bidding for Weetabix, sources told Reuters. Weetabix, which is majority-owned by Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd., could be worth at least £1.5 billion, the sources said. The interested parties are putting the finishing touches on their offers, which must be submitted next week, according to the sources.

Pladis Not Bidding For Weetabix

pladis global has said it is not among firms reportedly lining up to take control of Weetabix Limited owned by Bright Food (Group) Co., Ltd. pladis spokesperson told just-food today on January 23, 2017, "Pladis is not making a bid for Weetabix." The spokesperson added Pladis also has "no plans" to make an offer. A Weetabix spokesperson acknowledged there had been "lots of speculation" about the future of Weetabix, after reports emerged in December, 2016, that Bright Food was looking to offload its stake in the firm. However, the spokesperson told just-food on January 24, 2017, "I'm afraid there's very little I can say. We don't comment on rumors and speculation."

Barilla To Reportedly Bid For Weetabix

Barilla Holding S.p.A. seeks to bid for Weetabix Limited. Weetabix could be offloaded to Barilla in a £1.5 billion deal. Barilla is talking to City advisors about taking over Weetabix. Weetabix was put up for sale late last year by Bright Food has enlisted Goldman Sachs to help it sell off its 60% stake. Nestle, General Mills and PepsiCo are all thought to be potentially interested in the business.
