Renaissance Learning Launches Accelerated Reader 360 with Built-In Digital Nonfiction Content and Close Reading Skills Practice
Nov 5 14
Renaissance Learning announced the significant product with the rollout of Accelerated Reader 360 (AR 360). Used in over 37,000 schools, AR has always provided personalized, independent reading practice through comprehension quizzes taken after students read a book, and teachers have long used the program to monitor progress through ongoing data. AR 360 adds access to digital informational texts and instructional skills practice activities -- greatly improving teachers ability to meet the demands of today's college and career readiness standards without adding to an already busy day. Through AR 360's integrated reading program, students continue their independent reading practice, while teachers now have tools to help students engage with more nonfiction texts, read more complex texts with instructional support and build skills around evidence-based reading responses. A collection of leveled nonfiction articles is searchable by topic and skill to help teachers encourage close reading and teach to standards. Every nonfiction article includes built-in instructional skills practice, including a highlight and tag activity as well as a writing prompt to take learning deeper.
A single platform and unified Reading Dashboard provide a balanced and complete solution that includes actionable insights into student reading growth. Previously, educators had to access multiple platforms and reports to get a full understanding of students' independent and instructional reading performance and growth. The Reading Dashboard combines all of this data into one view, eliminating the need to run multiple reports.
Compass Learning and Renaissance Learning Partner to Bridge Assessment and Personalized Instruction for K-12 Classrooms
Jul 29 14
Compass Learning, a leader in personalized learning, and Renaissance Learning, the market leader in K-12 assessment and learning analytics, announced a strategic partnership that will make it easier for educators to personalize instruction to the needs of students. Available this fall, the integration of Renaissance Learning's STAR reading and math data and the newly released suite of solutions from Compass Learning will provide educators powerful tools to assess each student's proficiency and automatically assign personalized learning paths that align to both state and Common Core standards. The Renaissance Learning progression -- a sequencing of skills a student must master from Kindergarten to high school graduation -- is powered by insights from more than 54 million assessments taken each year by students at more than one third of U.S. schools. With this integration, results from STAR assessments combined with Compass Learning content will automatically deliver personalized learning paths for educators in three simple steps: 1. Compass Learning imports test data from Renaissance Learning STAR assessments into Compass Learning software including Hybridge, Pathblazer and Gradbound. 2. A learning path is assigned to each student based on the data. 3. Students then complete a range of Compass Learning activities, built on decades of research about how kids engage and learn, and linked directly to their educational needs and abilities.
