Hanwha E&C announced that it has won a deal worth $2.1 billion from the Iraqi government for the construction of basic infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, gas stations and bus terminals in the Bismayah New City project. The government will pay 10% of the deal within the first 60 days after the agreement is inked and the balance as the work is completed. Hanwha has been inking deals to design and build Bismayah New City, an 18.3 million square meter (4,448 acre) area 10 kilometers (6 miles) southeast of Baghdad, since 2012. The size of the new city will be similar to the Bundang District of Seongnam, Gyeonggi.
