North Carolina State University College of Design Selects Mersive’s Solstice Software to Bring Visual Collaboration to Campus
Oct 28 14
Mersive announced that North Carolina State University College of Design will adopt its Solstice software to enhance visual collaboration amongst students and instructors. Using Solstice within The College of Design enables students to achieve a new level of collaboration centered on visual data while also eliminating the costs students incur for printing projects for presentations and critiques. By installing Solstice software, The College of Design provides digital presentation and critique spaces for students in all disciplines – Architecture, Art+Design, Design Studies, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Landscape Architecture and PhD in Design. The expansion and integration of Solstice within The College of Design currently includes the installation of two Delta WX31-HD WideXtreme display systems equipped with Solstice. Solstice provides a robust presentation and collaboration solution for students and transforms displays into network devices that are part of the IT infrastructure. As a software-only solution, Solstice can be easily scaled and managed across the network as NC State broadens their deployment of Solstice throughout The College of Design.
Mersive Enlisted EffectiveUI in Redesigning Solstice 2.0
Oct 15 14
Mersive enlisted EffectiveUI in the redesign process of its most recent version of Solstice, a wireless collaboration software. The release of Solstice 2.0, earlier 2014 reset the standard for smart meeting room technology used to enhance collaboration. With Solstice, users can walk into a meeting room and instantly connect their wireless devices -- laptops, tablets, smartphones -- share content and control the display, creating an instant collaboration session. For the release of Solstice 2.0, Mersive enlisted EffectiveUI to help achieve its goals of making the display on a participant's device mirror what was being displayed on the main screen, creating a more intuitive navigation and offering a futuristic, pleasing visual design. In redesigning the Solstice interface, decisions were driven by designing for people and their needs, not the constraints of technology. Guided by this principle, Mersive and EffectiveUI worked in close collaboration; the EffectiveUI team created the visual design at the same time the development team at Mersive focused on their deep knowledge of user requirements and the technology infrastructure needed to support them. This co-creation effort resulted in a carefully crafted, visually appealing interface that works seamlessly with the backend functionality. The first version of Solstice received several industry accolades and was well adopted among businesses and top universities seeking to enhance collaboration in meetings and educational settings. The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan are currently implementing large-scale deployments of Solstice on their campuses. Solstice 2.0 was released in June 2014. For more on how Solstice works visit Mersive or watch this one-minute video.
Mersive Announces the Release of Solstice 2.1
Oct 6 14
Mersive announced the newest release of the company’s award-winning wireless collaboration software, Solstice 2.1. New features were added to Solstice to simplify the wireless media sharing user experience, reduce meeting startup times, and enhance administrative controls. Solstice software enables multiple users to connect simultaneously to a shared display using a range of devices and applications over an existing WiFi or Ethernet network. With Solstice, anyone can walk into a meeting room and instantly connect, share and control the display creating an instant collaboration session. The updated version of Solstice enables any meeting participant to quickly connect to the display in the room via a web browser on their device in a matter of seconds – even if they don’t have Solstice software installed on their device. With Solstice 2.1 guests and occasional users can quickly and efficiently start sharing media to the display regardless of the computer platform or device type. By simply entering an on-screen address into any browser, the appropriate client software will download directly from the Solstice host PC, launch, and connect to the screen. Because the new quick-connect feature doesn’t involve a traditional install process, users can connect to the Solstice display without requiring administrative rights or permission to install software on the corporate device. The major enhancements available in the Solstice 2.1 software release include: Quick-connect clients. To connect to the display in the room, users simply enter the address visible on the Solstice display into a web browser on their device; The new sharing panel. Upon connecting to a display, users see the new sharing panel with simple, intuitive sharing options; Administrative control of sharing options. The IT administrator can restrict the sharing options users see on their devices. Sharing options are configurable on a per-display basis and can be configured centrally using the Solstice Dashboard; Automatic display discovery configuration. Users that connect to a display by browser will automatically see all display names available for connection on the network after the initial connection.
