Kroll announced the appointment of J. Andrew Valentine as an associate managing director in its Cyber Security and Investigations practice. With a wide range of experiences and skills that bridge the private sector and law enforcement, Valentine is a highly accomplished practitioner as well as a recognized thought leader, author, and speaker on computer crime and cyber security. He has managed numerous high-profile criminal forensic and data breach investigations in the United States and internationally, where his work proved instrumental in the arrests and successful prosecutions of notorious hackers and criminals. Over the course of a 14-year career, Valentine became well-versed in criminal and civil investigative requirements, including computer forensics, evidentiary procedures, and fact-finding techniques, during his service with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Computer Crime Center and with Verizon/Cybertrust. He has regularly collaborated with government and state/provincial law enforcement agencies worldwide, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S.Secret Service, and Department of Homeland Security. Adept at making a complex and challenging subject matter clear and comprehensible, Valentine has served as an expert witness in criminal and civil trials.

Kroll announced the appointment of four new Directors in its Cyber Security and Investigations practice "Devon Ackerman, Mari DeGrazia, Ron Dormido, and Ray Manna. Ackerman most recently served with the FBI as a Supervisory Special Agent and Senior Digital Forensic Examiner. DeGrazia comes to Kroll from Verizon Enterprise Solutions, where she was a Senior Security Consultant with the Research, Investigations, Solutions, Knowledge (RISK) practice, serving as Case Lead on various network intrusion and data breach investigations. Dormido is a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the military for more than two decades. He spent his last tours of duty as a Special Agent with the U.S. Army's Intelligence and Security Command. Most recently, Dormido was a Senior Information Security Consultant with Verizon's RISK practice. Manna most recently led the FBI's Philadelphia Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory, capping a distinguished 20-year career with the FBI.

Kroll appointed Stephen Kopeck as Associate Managing Director, Cyber Security and Investigations practice. Most recently, Kopeck was a Team Lead with Verizon’s Research, Investigations, Solutions, Knowledge (RISK) division where for four years he managed a team of highly skilled cyber and computer forensics professionals providing data breach and cyber incident response services throughout the entire incident response process to companies across the United States. Prior to joining Verizon, Kopeck served for a decade as a Special Agent with the U.S.Secret Service (USSS), investigating complex cyber-related financial and other crimes. Kopeck is based in Kroll’s Reston, Virginia office, and reports to Cyber Security and Investigations practice leader, Tim Ryan. Kopeck transitioned to private industry after serving for 10 years as a Special Agent with the USSS where he was progressively assigned with increasing levels of responsibility, ultimately serving with the agency’s Cyber Intelligence Section and being named Liaison to the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In this role from 2010 to 2012, he coordinated criminal investigative and operational efforts, bringing together resources from USSS and US-CERT.
