Tata Capital Limited Key Developments

State bank Of India Exploring Various Possibilities To Find a Replacement For GE Capital's Joint Venture Partner

State Bank of India (NSEI:SBIN) is exploring various possibilities to find a replacement for GE Capital, its joint venture partner in SBI Card. GE Capital owns 40 per cent stake in the business, and the remaining is owned by SBI. SBI is exploring three options, including buying back the entire 40 per cent stake of GE Capital. Other options are selling GE Capital''s stake to another investor through a private placement and going for a public issue. There are reports that private equity funds such as KKR, Bain Capital and Baring Asia are weighing options to buy stake in the company. Besides, Tata Capital is also looking at the option. "Work is in progress. No decision has been taken on SBI Card yet," Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson of State bank Of India, told PTI. It is part of GE's global plan to exit from the finance business, she said, adding that it is nothing new. As per an agreement between SBI and GE Capital at the time of formation of SBI Card, it was decided that whenever any party decides to exit the JV, the decision has to be on the basis of mutual understanding.

Tata Front Runner For GE Capital’s Stake In SBI Cards

Tata Sons Limited has put its weight behind a bid for General Electric Capital Corporation's stake in SBI Cards and Payment Services Private Limited valued at INR 20 billion. Bombay House, Tata Sons Limited's headquarters, is working on a bid that will combine Tata Capital Limited and Tata Consultancy Services Limited.

Canada Fund, GIC Are Reported To Eye Tata Tech Stake

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and GIC Pte. Ltd. are serious candidates to buy a significant minority stake in Tata Technologies Limited. The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG) is also among the contenders for the stake purchase in Tata Technologies with an asking valuation of more than $1 billion as the stake sale process run by Citigroup gathers momentum, people directly familiar with the matter said. People familiar with the developments said there appears to be indecisiveness by the major shareholder Tata Motors Limited (BSE:500570) on the quantum of stake sale in Tata Technologies. The stake on offer is likely to be smaller than originally envisaged, trimming the potential deal size to around $300 million - $400 million, the people said, while adding that it was still premature to speculate on the details. Tata Capital Limited and Alpha TC Holdings Pte. Ltd. could exit while Tata Motors is unlikely to pare much stake while retaining majority control. Tata Motors spokesperson declined to comment on this report, reported Times of India.
