Seward & Kissel LLP Names Bankruptcy Attorney Robert J. Gayda to New York Office

Seward & Kissel LLP announced that Robert J. Gayda has joined the firm’s New York office as Counsel in the Bankruptcy and Reorganization group. He previously served as Counsel with Chadbourne & Parke LLP in their Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring group, where he was also seconded to the Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS) Global Restructuring group from 2009-2010. Mr. Gayda’s practice focuses on bankruptcy and financial restructuring. He has experience representing clients in a wide range of matters, from out-of-court restructurings to bankruptcy litigation. Mr. Gayda’s clients include creditors’ committees, hedge funds, banks, insurance companies, bondholders, agents for lender groups, and other creditors in all phases of restructuring. He also counsels entities seeking to invest in distressed assets as well as companies considering filing for bankruptcy protection.

Seward & Kissel LLP l announced that Gregg Bateman, Nick Katsanos, and Anthony Tu-Sekine have been promoted to partner, and Ross Hooper, Keri Riemer, Julia Spivack, and Robert Wood have been promoted to counsel. The promotions are effective January 1, 2016. All of the individuals who have been promoted are located in the New York office, with the exception of Anthony Tu-Sekine, who is located in Washington, D.C.
Gregg Bateman, who has been promoted from associate to partner, is a member of the firm’s Global Bank and Institutional Finance practice. He previously served on the Corporate Finance Editorial Advisory Board for Law360. Nick Katsanos, who has been promoted from counsel to partner, practices in the firm’s Business Transactions group and works on a variety of business transactions, financings, and corporate matters. Anthony Tu-Sekine, who has been promoted from counsel to partner, is a member of the firm’s Corporate Finance and Investment Management groups. Ross Hooper and Julia Spivack who both practice in the firm’s Litigation group, have been elevated from associate to counsel. Keri Riemer, a member of the firm’s Investment Management group, and Robert Wood, a member of the firm’s Corporate Finance group, have also been elevated from associate to counsel.
