MTN Irancell announced audited earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. The company’s total revenue increased by 14.3% compared to the prior year, supported by improved distribution in Tehran and four other major cities, a high uptake of bolt-on packages and the expansion of the 3G network and value added services. The operation was awarded a 3G and LTE licence in August, which significantly enhanced data revenue in the fourth quarter. Data revenue increased by 96.3% and now contributes 17.6% of total revenue. The company now has 17.3 million active smart phones on its network and 15.1 million data users. The company maintained its EBITDA margin at 42.8%, supported by the management of cost increases to below the rate of inflation. The company invested ZAR 6,350 million (100%) of capex during the year.
