Olympia Development of Michigan Announces Plans to Renovate and Restore Detroit's Historic Eddystone Hotel

Olympia Development of Michigan is announcing its plans to renovate and restore Detroit's historic Eddystone Hotel and create market-rate and affordable housing units in the building and throughout The District Detroit. The Eddystone, located at 110 Sproat Street at Park Avenue, was designed by Louis Kamper and opened in 1924. This announcement reinforces Olympia's ongoing goals for both historic preservation and affordable housing as part of The District Detroit. Under plans to be submitted to the City of Detroit Historic District Commission, Olympia envisions a complete renovation of the former Eddystone Hotel in the spirit of its original design. Approximately 20% of the Eddystone's roughly 100 units would be reserved as affordable housing. The Eddystone will also feature first-floor retail space, consistent with hundreds of millions of dollars in private mixed-use development plans throughout The District Detroit. Olympia Development is also announcing a 20% affordable housing goal across The District.
