Texas A&M University Announces Board Changes

Texas A&M University president Michael K. Young announced that Scott Woodward will be the institution's new director of Athletics. Woodward, who currently serves as director of Athletics at the University of Washington, will succeed Eric Hyman, who announced earlier this week that he was stepping down from the post that he has held since 2012. Woodward will be formally introduced in College Station next week. Since January of 2008, Woodward has served as the director of Athletics at the University of Washington, overseeing a department with revenue exceeding $100 million per year and a staff of more than 200.
Texas A&M University to Open $6 Million Research Center in Israel on Collaboration with University of Haifa

Texas A&M University has scrapped plans for a $200 million campus in the Israeli city of Nazareth and instead is launching a $6 million marine research center that's expected to contribute to critical projects Israel is pursuing along the Mediterranean Sea. The research center, which will open in February in collaboration with the University of Haifa, is a departure from plans announced in October 2013. The plans for an A&M branch were unveiled after consulting with then-Israeli President Shimon Peres, an advocate of coexistence between Israel's Jewish majority and its Arab minority.
TESCAN and Texas A&M University Announce Collaboration Agreement

TESCAN and Texas A&M University announced that a Nanotechnology Collaboration Agreement has been signed between these organizations. The model of engagement between TEES and TESCAN will streamline research initiatives into applications development and in turn drive an industrial outreach program, while strengthening educational opportunities at Texas A&M in nanoscience and nanotechnology. These initiatives will constitute high-level collaborations with strong interaction between Texas A&M researchers, industrial partners and TESCAN scientists. In support of the collaboration, TESCAN has completed installation of a TESCAN VEGA 3 SEM, MIRA 3 FE-SEM, LYRA 3 Gallium FIB-SEM Workstation and a FERA 3 Plasma FIB-SEM Workstation. These instruments will reside in the Texas A&M Microscopy and Imaging Center (MIC) and the new Frederick E. Giesecke Engineering Research Building, which houses the Texas A&M Aggie Fab Nanofabrication Facility (AggieFab) and Materials Characterization Facility (MCF).
