Texas AandM University Appoints M. Dee Childs as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

M. Dee Childs, who has more than 25 years of computer and related experience in higher education and the private sector, has been selected from a pool of over 300 candidates to the newly created position of vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Texas AandM University. Her appointment, effective Sept. 1, was announced Aug. 5 by University President Michael K. Young following confirmation of the appointment by The Texas AandM University System Board of Regents. She will report directly to President Young. Ms. Childs currently serves as associate provost and chief information officer at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Childs has headed Alabama-Huntsville's information technology operations since 2012 and previously served at LSU for six years with her duties there being deputy chief information officer, executive director for user support and executive director for high-performance computing. Earlier in her career, she served as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University and held several staff positions there.
Texas AandM University Appoints Mark Klemm as Assistant Vice President of Development for Agriculture and Life Sciences

Mark Klemm has been appointed assistant vice president of development for agriculture and life sciences at Texas A and M University. Klemm most recently served as campaign director for the university's Lead By Example Capital Campaign, working with academic leaders and donors to design, evaluate and adjust strategies to successfully launch the $4 billion campaign, Hussey noted. Klemm also previously worked in development for the university's colleges of liberal arts and engineering, and has helped in development roles with the Presbyterian Foundation, Rice University, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the American Heart Association.
Texas A&M University Announces Board Changes

Texas A&M University president Michael K. Young announced that Scott Woodward will be the institution's new director of Athletics. Woodward, who currently serves as director of Athletics at the University of Washington, will succeed Eric Hyman, who announced earlier this week that he was stepping down from the post that he has held since 2012. Woodward will be formally introduced in College Station next week. Since January of 2008, Woodward has served as the director of Athletics at the University of Washington, overseeing a department with revenue exceeding $100 million per year and a staff of more than 200.
