Yao Ming denied a report that he was lining up investors to bid for Los Angeles Clippers, Inc. "I can't confirm it because it is completely a rumour," Yao Ming told reporters when asked about the report at an NBA event in Taipei. "Currently I don't have such a plan" to buy any NBA team, he added. ESPN, citing unnamed sources, reported in May 2014, that Yao and Grant Hill, were working separately to find investors to launch bids.

Steve Ballmer has signed a binding agreement to buy the Los Angeles Clippers, Inc. (L.A Clippers) for $2 billion from the Sterling family trust, a source familiar with the situation told CNN. The sale will have to be approved at a NBA Board of Governors meeting. And the sale still may have to be approved by Donald Sterling, according to earlier comments by his attorney. Jimmy Iovine may also be interested in acquiring L.A Clippers. He is part of group bidding for the L.A. Clippers along with Guggenheim Partners principals, Chief Executive Officer, Mark Walter and President Todd Boehly, that also includes David Geffen, Oracle software co-founder Larry Ellison, Oprah Winfrey, Laurene and Elaine.
