Cox Communications announced the launch of the latest version of Contour to its customers in San Diego. The new Contour is the latest version of Cox's premier video product which leverages the X1 platform from Comcast. In addition to the television, the cloud-based interface will be available on a new in-home mobile app. The product's newest features including its user interface, predictive search, mobile apps and the voice-activated remote control. On-screen guide features were an immersive user guide with rich graphics and images. Cover artwork and detailed title information for more than 35,000 on demand choices. Predictive search returns network, title, genre, or actor with a few letters. Access to TV apps for personalized sports, news, weather and traffic directly from remote. App features were a second screen personal video experience with the ability to stream live TV channels and free on demand choices. Available for iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets, and PC/Mac web browsers. DVR features were records 6 shows at once. 2 terabytes of storage with capacity to store up to 300 hours HD shows and 1,000 hours SD shows. Start watching recorded program in one room, pause and resume in another room. Remote features were RF-enabled remote with backlighting. Oklahoma City Jury Returns $6.31 Million Verdict, Subject to Trebling, in Favor of Cox Communications, Inc Cable Oklahoma Subscribers in Antitrust Suit

After deliberating for three full days, an Oklahoma City jury has returned a verdict against Cox Communications, Inc. for violations of antitrust laws totaling $6.31 million. Under those laws, the award could be trebled to nearly $19 million, plus costs and attorneys' fees. The plaintiffs intend to request injunctive relief as well. The plaintiffs, subscribers to Cox's cable services represented by the firms Whatley Kallas, LLP; Schneider Wallace Cottrell Konecky Wotkyns; and Kanner & Whiteley LLC, alleged that Cox had violated the law by tying premium cable services to set-top box rentals.
TiVo Inc. Announces Availability of Cox Communications’ Video on Demand Services

TiVo Inc. and Cox Communications have announced the availability of Cox's On DEMAND content for joint subscribers using TiVo Roamio and TiVo Premiere DVRs. Cox's robust On DEMAND library of more than 18,000 movies and shows will now be seamlessly integrated with Cox TV channels and the popular streaming apps1 available through TiVo, allowing consumers to access, find and search for their favorite content all through one user experience. The offering will begin to roll out via a software update, reaching the entirety of Cox's digital footprint by the end of 2015. Customers with Advanced TV and Essential Internet or higher will have access to VOD content. In addition to partnering with other U.S. cable operators that offer the TiVo DVR as the primary Set Top Box for subscribers, TiVo works with Pay-TV operators to provide their customers who purchase TiVo retail products with the ability to consolidate cable, on-demand and streaming options into one easy entertainment experience. Cox now will afford its subscribers the choice of using a TiVo DVR (as an alternative to an operator-provided cable box) for recording and viewing Cox's line-up of premium content. Cox's and Comcast's offerings with TiVo now will enable 30 million U.S. cable subscribers to use TiVo DVRs as an alternative user experience for accessing the respective on-demand libraries of these cable operators.
