Eriez Introduces its New Rougher/Cleaner/Scavenger System

Eriez introduced its new Rougher/Cleaner/Scavenger (RCS) System. This breakthrough recycling technology combines three Eriez Eddy Current Separators, creating a system that pays for itself in less than nine months by allowing users to sell a premium high-grade zorba. The RCS should be the first nonferrous separator in the scrap yard. It is positioned downstream of ferrous separation (Scrap Drums /Magnetic Head Pulleys) and typically a Trommel Screen to size the material prior to reaching the Eddy Current Separators. Downstream of the RCS system, Sensor Sorting Equipment may be used to separate stainless and lead. The RCS circuit was derived from mineral processing techniques that are widely used for the same goal: maximize the grade and recovery of zorba. The RCS system can generate an additional $500,000 in revenue for a typical scrap yard in its first year of operation. The RCS system is appropriate for both new installations and as an add-on to existing operations.
Eriez Introduces Line of SMART Products for the Recycling Industry

Eriez® introduced a new line of Eriez SMART (System Monitoring and Reporting Technology) products for the recycling industry. These advanced products were developed to monitor and report on frequently fluctuating measurements throughout typical recycling processes, giving operators greater control over their processes to maximize metals recovery and separation efficiency. Introduced in 2014, the Eriez Metal Loss Monitor (MLM) continuously scans the residue stream for metal that has escaped the process and is headed for landfill disposal. It is engineered for installation on flat or trough conveyor belts for the tailing or fluff stream and is available in nearly any belt width and standard conveyor configurations. The MLM has a counter that can be reset hourly, daily or even for each disposal truck load. If a disposal truck is judged to be heavily loaded with valuable metal, yard management can prevent it from being landfilled. The Data Acquisition and Reporting package offers endless possibilities for process improvements using trend analysis and statistical process control. All data is instantly available to anyone, anytime via Eriez' Remote Reporting, through which text alerts are instantly sent when metal losses rise above a pre-determined level. The Eriez Moisture Monitor is a non-contact electronic scanning device that measures the water content of material passing through its inspection field. When installed on a conveyor, it reports the moisture content of the material on the belt as a percentage that can be read locally or remotely via the Eriez MLM web portal. This capability is particularly beneficial to the recycling industry because operators can better optimize the amount of water injected into the mill to prevent fires and control airborne dust generation. With the Moisture Monitor in place, the mill operator can assure sufficient water injection to accomplish these safety goals. Excessive water content interferes with separation, increases metal losses and increases costs due to the added water weight of reject material sent to the landfill. The Eriez Splitter Monitor is an optical system that measures debris build-up on the critical splitter blades used in many different types of separation equipment in the recycling industry. It provides an analog measurement of the amount of this detrimental build-up and can be programmed through the Eriez MLM web portal to send warning alerts via email or cell phone text messages to prompt the appropriate personnel to clean the splitter blade. Eriez Splitter Monitors allow recycling line operators to perform this essential function in fewer labor hours by automatically monitoring and alerting personnel rather than requiring them to manually check each splitter for debris build-up. This results in greatly improved metal recovery and lower operating costs. The Eriez MLM Belt Scale option is a device that continuously monitors the gross weight of recycling reject material passing through the Eriez Metal Loss Monitor. It provides additional data which, when combined with Eriez' proprietary calculations, better monitors the separation efficiency of recycling plants. Many such plants operate intermittently or with varying feed rates that can cause variations in the number of metal pieces that are rejected to the landfill per minute of operation. To better isolate such variations from indications of separation equipment inefficiency, the MLM Belt Scale option permits graphing and monitoring the much more relevant counting of metal pieces per ton of waste. Thus, system operators can better adjust and maintain the separation equipment to maximize efficiency.
Eriez Introduces Orange University Metalworking Demonstration and Training Vehicle

Eriez introduced the Orange University Metalworking Demonstration and Training Vehicle, a 32-foot Peterbilt diesel rig with a 24-foot equipment showroom. This truck will travel throughout North America, delivering hands-on training and education to customers and distributors. The first tour will kick-off in early October. The Orange University Metalworking Demonstration and Training Vehicle is filled with magnetic and vibratory material handling products as well as equipment from the company's HydroFlow fluid recycling and fluid filtration line. The current layout features SafeHold Lifting Magnets, Magnetic Conveyors, Vibratory Feeders, Magnetic Finish Mill Unloaders, ProGrade Magnetic Separators, Magna-Rails and Magna Rolls, Sump Cleaners, Portable and Tank Side Coalescers, Drum Top Mixers, Belt Skimmers and more. On-board computer systems, a SMART Board, sound system and Internet capabilities enhance the interactive experience for visitors.
