The BBC Trust Names Mark Damazer, Roger Carr and Mark Florman as New Trustees

The BBC Trust has named former Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer, BAE chairman Sir Roger Carr and banker Mark Florman as new trustees. Damazer, who is currently master of St Peter's College in Oxford, left the BBC in 2010 after six years running BBC Radio 4 and 4 Extra. He will start a four-year term as a trustee on 1 April. Carr, who has been chairman of a string of British businesses including Cadbury and Thames Water as well as deputy chair of the Bank of England, will take over as BBC Trust vice chair from Diane Coyle on 1 May for four years. Florman, the co-founder and former chief executive of merchant bank Maizels Westerberg, will take up his four-year term on 1 April. The trio replace vice-chairman Diane Coyle, David Liddiment and Alison Hastings.

BBC Trust Appoints Rona Fairhead as Chairman

Rona Fairhead has been confirmed as the new BBC Trust Chairman. She was formally appointed at a Privy Council this evening (October 8) and will take up her new post from October 9, 2014.

BBC Trust Announces Board Changes

Former Financial Times Group chief Rona Fairhead is to become the first woman boss of the governing body of the BBC. Fairhead, 53, will replace Chris Patten, who quit as chairman of the BBC Trust in May after major heart surgery. Fairhead is also a non-executive director at PepsiCo and HSBC, and was chairwoman and chief executive of the Financial Times Group between 2006 and 2013. She will be tasked with overseeing the broadcaster's attempts to rebuild its reputation.
