DOE Awards Legacy Cleanup Contract to Los Alamos National Security, LLC

The U.S. Department of Energy announced the award of a Cost-Plus-Award Fee contract to Los Alamos National Security, LLC. This bridge contract is for the Office of Environmental Management (EM) funded legacy cleanup activities at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). It also serves as an interim action to facilitate successful completion of the necessary near-term work scope with the least amount of disruption, and provide EM sufficient time to competitively award a performance-based incentive contract(s) for the longer term legacy cleanup requirements at LANL. The contract will have a maximum value of $309,790,556 with a one-year base period and two six-month option periods. The services to be provided under the contract include, but are not limited to: Solid Waste Stabilization and Disposition, Soil and Water Remediation, and Deactivation and Decommissioning of Defense Nuclear Facilities.

UbiQD, LLC Executes Licenses to Technology Developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Los Alamos National Laboratory

UbiQD, LLC has announced two fully executed intellectual property licenses, one with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the other with Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS). UbiQD has exclusively licensed technology from MIT and nonexclusively licensed technology from LANS that relates to quantum dots substantially free of toxic elements and their manufacture. The luminescent quantum dots covered in these patents have been demonstrated in applications spanning a wide array of technologies, from solar energy and solid-state lighting, to medical imaging and cancer research.
