Feb 15 17
Telus Communications Company has announced that it will expand its 4G wireless services business in Manitoba. Following the announcement that regulatory approvals have been obtained for BCE's acquisition of MTS, TELUS and Bell are now moving forward under their agreement to have close to one-quarter of MTS' postpaid wireless customers assigned to TELUS and to have TELUS assume 13 retail locations for approximately $300 million, subject to customary closing conditions and final adjustments. Even though the transaction is expected to close on or about April 1, 2017, customers will be actively migrated over several months in a customer friendly manner. As a result of a broader network sharing agreement between TELUS and Bell, customers of both companies will enjoy high quality and reliable coverage across rural Manitoba. In addition, TELUS will invest in wireless technology and infrastructure in the Greater Winnipeg area and Brandon to further enhance the reliability, speed, functionality and reach of world-leading 4G LTE network.

Rich with innovative architectural, technological and environmental features, it is the first substantial office tower in Canada built to new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum standards. TELUS Garden's office tower also features: Vancouver's larger solar panel array on the office tower's rooftop, reducing reliance on conventional commercial electricity; rainwater capture systems to irrigate gardens throughout the development; 10,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space and garden terraces on six levels planted with a community food garden that will be tended by TELUS team members, indigenous trees and thousands of plants species; an iconic architectural canopy along Georgia Street that will provide coverage to the new public plaza that also features seating, music and a free Wi-Fi zone; and Vancouver's first cantilevered office spaces above city sidewalks, which enhance the office building's design while maximizing the use of vertical space. Additionally, TELUS Garden's office tower features a media facade that will display community programming including visual arts created by local students and arts organizations; a custom made Fazioli piano in the office building lobby for local musicians, beside an indoor koi fish pond; advanced building systems, which include a ventilation system providing fresh air to residents and workers, rather than the recycled air typical of towers; high-efficiency motion sensor lighting to significantly reduce energy consumption; charging stations for electric vehicles and bike storage, with showers for team members; and 450,000 square feet of new office space and 65,000 square feet of new retail space, including TELUS' 2,300 square foot retail store.
