FUJIFILM Corporation Launches FUJINON XF90mmF2 R LM WR
May 18 15
FUJIFILM Corporation announced that a new FUJINON XF90mmF2 R LM WR will be added to the X-Series interchangeable lens line-up in July 2015. Offering a focal length equivalent to 137mm and a maximum aperture of F2.0, this short telephoto optic is ideal for portrait and sports photography. The FUJINON XF90mmF2 R LM WR is a fast-aperture prime lens that delivers ultra-sharp images with rich bokeh even at the maximum aperture setting. The optical construction of 11 elements in 8 groups (including three ED glass elements) minimizes vignetting and creates beautiful bokeh to the rounded diaphragm, which makes it perfect for portraiture as well as other applications. Despite having a large maximum aperture, the FUJINON XF90mmF2 R LM WR is both compact and lightweight, 540g, while the minimum working distance of 60cm delivers a wide shooting range. A newly-developed Quad Linear Motor delivers fast, accurate autofocus, plus the lens also features a weather- and dust-resistant structure that can work in temperatures down to -10?. Along with the popular XF56mmF1.2 R, this is a must-have lens for portrait photography fans that favor fast aperture prime lenses. The focal length allows user to shoot at a distance that won’t intimidate subjects, leading to more natural, candid results. Main Features: Ultra-sharp images even at the maximum aperture; The optical construction comprises 11 elements in 8 groups, including three ED (extra low-dispersion) elements, which reduces chromatic aberrations to deliver sharp, rich images even at the widest aperture of F2.0; Beautiful bokeh: The rounded aperture blades combined with an optical construction designed to minimize vignetting creates beautiful circular bokeh right to the edge of the image. In addition, stunning depth is possible in images to the differentiation between the razor-sharp subject and the bokeh in front and behind it; High-speed autofocus as fast as 0.14sec to a newly-developed Quad Linear Motor; A linear motor is fast, quiet and accurate, but here four magnets are used for higher torque. The high-speed autofocus provides a more versatile shooting experience, allowing users to quickly react to subtle changes in a subject’s facial expression; Close focusing to 60cm and 0.3x magnification (35mm format equivalent). The close focusing capabilities of the FUJINON XF90mmF2 R LM WR allow user to isolate key parts of a subject so user can shoot dramatic portraits or close-ups of flowers and insects; Weather, Dust, and Freeze Resistance: The lens features a weather- and dust-resistant structure with seven seals on the lens barrel. It can also work in temperatures as low as -10?. This keeps the lens protected from rain, dust and splashes of water when shooting outdoors; Lightweight and compact The lens weighs approx 540g, and is compact too, with a filter thread measuring just 62mm. The combined weight with the XF56mm F1.2 R is less than 1kg – great news for portrait photographers who want to travel light and still shoot with prime lenses for sharp images and strong bokeh.
Fujifilm Announces Launch of Broadcast Zoom Lens Compatible with 4K Cameras
Apr 27 15
Fujifilm Corporation has announced the launch of broadcast zoom lens that offers optical performance for use with 4K cameras in July 2015. The latest release, "FUJINON UA80x9" (hereinafter "UA80x9") is a 80x zoom lens that covers a broad range of focal lengths from 9mm in wide angle to 720mm in telephoto, making it ideal for the live coverage of sporting events and concerts. The market needs for 4K video contents are surging amidst a 7-fold year-on-year increase in the shipment of 4K-compatible television sets to approx. 11.6 million units last year and the launch of a dedicated 4K channel (CS satellite broadcasting) in Japan in March this year. Fujifilm's lineup of cine lenses has included the "HK series", which offers optical performance approximating to 8K systems, and "ZK series", which combines 4K optical performance and electric drive units. With solid reputation not only from the film industry, but also from broadcasters producing 4K contents, lenses in both
"HK" and "ZK" series are frequently used in test 4K broadcasts for international sporting events. However, the broadcasting industry generally uses cameras equipped with a 2/3-inch sensor including 4K cameras with the same sensor size, and is therefore seeking compatible broadcast lenses that deliver advanced optical performance. "UA80x9", is a broadcast zoom lens compatible with 4K cameras. Using the cutting-edge optical simulation technology, the lens achieves an impressive 80x zoom as well as advanced optical performance such as high image resolution, contrast and color reproduction. Covering the focal length from 9mm in wide angle to 720mm in telephoto, the lens features a unique "optical stabilization mechanism" that provides optimum adjustment to image shakes caused by vibrations and wind, making it an excellent choice in live coverage of sporting events and concerts. The "floating focus system", which controls multiple lens groups according to the shooting distance, delivers high-resolution and high-contrast images from close-up to infinity, enabling 4K video production with a high realistic sensation and premium picture quality. With the demand for accurate focusing needed for 4K resolution, Fujinon's new focus position demand unit, the EPD-31A, has improved from 12-bit to 16-bit encoding. FUJINON lenses by Fujifilm are known for advanced descriptive performance, contributing to the evolution of video imaging through their use in the production of TV programs, movies and commercials across the world. Fujifilm will continue to tap into its optical, high precision forming and assembling technologies that have been nurtured over many years to develop and supply innovative products that address the diversifying needs of broadcasting production.
Fujifilm Corporation Announces Launch of New Fujinon Lens XF16mmF1.4 R WR
Apr 21 15
Fujifilm Corporation has announced the addition of a new Fujinon Lens XF16mmF1.4 R WR to the X-Series interchangeable lens line-up in mid-May 2015. The lens has a fixed focal length of 16mm (24mm in 35mm format equivalent) and offers a dramatic wide field of view and stunning optical performance. The F1.4 maximum aperture delivers high image quality in low-light conditions and bokeh-rich macro photography with the minimum working distance of 15cm. Featuring high-speed autofocus, a weather- and dust-resistant structure that can work in temperatures as low as -10°C, and shooting possibilities are further expanded. The FUJINON fast aperture lens quintet is now complete. The XF16mmF1.4 R WR is the latest addition to the popular XF23mmF1.4 R, XF35mmF1.4 R, XF56mmF1.2 R, and XF56mmF1.2 R APD lens. The optical design includes two aspherical elements and two ED (extra low-dispersion) elements, which reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations to deliver sharp, rich image quality even at the widest aperture of F1.4. The image quality is further enhanced by Fujifilm's proprietary HT-EBC coating applied to the all lens surfaces and Nano GI Coating on the rear surface of G1 lens. This alters the refractive index between glass and air, to reduce ghosting and flare from diagonal incident light. By getting closer to a subject the bokeh is enhanced and perspective is more dynamic, which gives the wide-angle photographer greater creativity. Use the XF16mm F1.4 R WR to photograph a plate of food with the restaurant in the background, for example, or a water droplet on a plant with forest in the background and both the subject and its surroundings can be captured at the same time. High image quality is achieved throughout the focus range by correcting various aberrations, even at minimum working distance of 15cm, and a Floating Focus System driven by two focus groups that work in conjunction with each other according to the working distance. A Rear Focusing System is used for high-speed autofocus. Autofocus, as fast as 0.11 sec is achieved by a built-in high-torque DC coreless motor driving the focus unit. This makes the lens ideal for street shooting and portraiture. The focus ring comes with a depth-of-field scale, which is perfect for street photographers. By calculating the distance and adjusting the aperture setting, users can shoot spontaneously. The weather-resistant structure features 9 seals in 8 areas on the lens barrel. These keep the lens protected from sudden rain, dust and splashes of water. And the XF16mmF1.4 R WR features a design that absorbs the temperature difference between the outer and inner parts of the lens to minimize the impact on optical parts and also uses electronic parts that guarantee operation in low temperatures down to -10°C. At approx. 375g the lens is around 40% of the weight of its DSLR equivalent. This is great news for all photographers who want a versatile lens that delivers the high optical performance in a very compact size.
