Sodexo Announces Opening of New Multi-Brand Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins Restaurant at the U.S. House of Representatives

Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins, along with the Sodexo celebrated the opening of a milestone multi-brand restaurant at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. The restaurant, located in the Longworth House Office Building, officially opened its doors on April 4. The restaurant, which includes a Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins under one roof, will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The menu features Dunkin' Donuts items that can be enjoyed all day, including internationally recognized coffee and lattes, espresso-based beverages, sandwiches, donuts and other bakery goods. The restaurant will also feature items customized with flavors adapted to suit local taste preferences, such as the Cherry Blossom and Capitals Craze Donuts. The multi-brand restaurant is approximately 350 square feet and employs approximately eight crew members. Baskin-Robbins will offer its wide selection of delicious ice cream flavors, including classics like Mint Chocolate Chip, Pralines 'n Cream and Jamoca® Almond Fudge, as well as a new "Flavor of the Month" every month. Baskin-Robbins will also feature custom ice cream cakes, ice cream sundaes and flavorful beverages, including Milkshakes, Smoothies and Cappuccino Blast® frozen drinks. The opening of the Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins multi-brand location at the U.S. House of Representatives is one of the many milestones solidifying Dunkin' Brands' commitment to Washington, D.C. Earlier this month, The Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation (DDBRCF) granted $20,000 to the Capital Area Food Bank. The donation comes in the final year of The DDBRCF's three-year, $1,000,000 commitment to Feeding America® member food banks to support child-hunger initiatives nationwide. More than 1 in 4 children face hunger in Washington, D.C. each year and this grant will help the Capital Area Food Bank better serve kids in need.

Sodexo Inc. Plans to Lay Off about 200 Workers

Sodexo Inc. plans to lay off about 200 workers in the area as a result of losing a contract with the University of Louisville. The company reported the layoffs in what's called a WARN notice it filed with the Kentucky Career Center Office of Employment and Training earlier this month. The notice was filed to comply with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Adjustment Notification Act law. It said that on April 4, 2016 the University of Louisville told the company that, starting May 27, 2016 it no longer would provide contract food service operations for the university. As a result, Sodexo will close its U of L operation and will cease employment of 215 cooks, food service workers, managers and so on. It's possible that some of these workers could end up working with Aramark Corp.

Sodexo Appoints Lorna C. Donatone as its Region Chair for North America and CEO of Schools Worldwide

Sodexo has announced that Lorna C. Donatone was appointed Sodexo Region Chair for North America and CEO of Schools worldwide. In her new role, Donatone will oversee 133,000 employees and all Sodexo business in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. As CEO of Schools worldwide, she is responsible for a business segment with more than 3,500 client sites in 42 countries and EUR 1.5 billion in revenue. Donatone first joined Sodexo in 1999 and has held several key leadership roles in the company, including most recently the position of chief operating officer and president of Sodexo Education in the U.S. She began her career in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche in Dallas, Texas, and has worked in the airline, banking and high-tech industries.
