NaviNet, Inc. announced that it has promoted Paul Johnson to Vice President of Platform Implementation. In this role, Paul spearheads the team responsible for implementing the company's recently launched payer-provider collaboration platform, NaviNet Open. Prior to joining NaviNet in June 2013, Paul was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Sciclops. Grant Ho has been named Vice President of Marketing at NaviNet. He oversees all marketing responsibilities for NaviNet, including product marketing, demand generation, digital marketing, and marketing communications. Grant previously served as Senior Director, Product Marketing at CareCloud. Prior to CareCloud, Grant held executive roles in product marketing at GE Healthcare and Novell. NaviNet and Independence Blue Cross Announce Design Partnership

NaviNet and Independence Blue Cross (Independence), announced that they have entered into a Design and Collaboration Agreement. Independence will collaborate with NaviNet on the design of an Advanced Referral Value-Based Network Application, which NaviNet will build and offer to the broad payer market. The current referral process is broken, with patients not always going to the best-performing specialists when they are referred by their primary care physicians (PCPs). Both payers and physicians who are engaged in value-based accountable care relationships want to address this issue through an improved referral process. In addition, payers are currently incurring high administrative costs, which will be lowered with an improved and automated referral process. Furthermore, specialists often lack patient history at the time of an encounter, and PCPs and care managers do not have a view into what happens after a referral is made. This Advanced Referral Value-Based Network Application will give physicians the right information for better-informed decision-making around cost and quality and enable them to send patients to the most appropriate specialists and health systems. In addition, this application will empower the PCP and the specialist to close the loop between care teams.
Capital BlueCross Extends Contract with NaviNet

NaviNet, Inc. and Capital BlueCross announced that they are extending their current contract, while also implementing NaviNet Open, a new payer-provider collaboration platform. Capital BlueCross uses the NaviNet secure multi-payer web portal to provide key customer health information to network providers. Through this portal, providers can handle important applications or transactions to mutually support customers. For instance, Capital BlueCross can interact with providers on over 20 transactions, including checking the status on claims, and submitting and retrieving referrals and authorizations.
