Southwestern Electric Power Co. on March 23 completed an offering of $400.0 million of its 3.900% series J senior unsecured notes due April 1, 2045. The company plans to use net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes relating to its utility business, including the payment at maturity of its $100 million of 5.375% senior notes, series C, due April 15 and its $150 million of 4.90% senior notes, series D, due July 1. Pending such use, it may temporarily invest the proceeds in short-term, interest-bearing obligations. Interest on the notes is payable semiannually on April 1 and Oct. 1 of each year, beginning Oct. 1. Mizuho Securities USA Inc., UBS Securities LLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and Scotia Capital (USA) Inc. served as book managers. BBVA Securities Inc., SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc. and The Huntington Investment Co. acted as co-managers.
