Kenworth Truck Company Introduces Allison's FuelSense for Class 8 and Medium Duty Trucks

Kenworth Truck Company has introduced Allison's FuelSense packages for new Kenworth Class 8 and medium duty trucks specified with Allison Highway Series and Rugged Duty Series automatic transmissions. Allison 3000 Highway Series Allison 4000 Rugged Duty Series, Allison's FuelSense delivers a unique package of software and electronic controls that target critical components of a truck's duty cycle to help enhance fuel savings. FuelSense incorporates features that automatically adapt shift schedules and torque, maximizing transmission efficiency based on load, grade and duty cycle, while maintaining superior performance. FuelSense is available in three packages, each featuring Allison's new 5th Generation Electronic Controls. The controls are designed to improve fuel economy. The base package includes EcoCal and Dynamic Shift Sensing. EcoCal works to lower engine speed. Dynamic Shift Sensing automatically selects between EcoCal and a higher shift speed schedule based on the truck's load and grade on which it is operating. Kenworth K270 Cabover; Kenworth T680 52-inch Sleeper; In addition to those features, the FuelSense Plus package adds Neutral at Stop, which eliminates load on the engine when the vehicle is stopped to help reduce non-productive fuel consumption. For top fuel efficiency, the FuelSense Max package adds Acceleration Rate Management. That management feature automatically controls the engine torque and is available in base, high and ultra economy options.

Kenworth Announces Kenworth T680 Advantage

Kenworth announced the introduction of its new Kenworth T680 Advantage. The Kenworth T680 Advantage - Kenworth's new, most fuel-efficient truck - features a special factory-installed aerodynamic package along with the optimized powertrain combination of the PACCAR MX-13 engine integrated with the Eaton Fuller Advantage(TM) 10-speed automated transmission. The T680 Advantage offers up to a 5% fuel efficiency enhancement. The Kenworth T680 Advantage -- Kenworth's new, most fuel-efficient truck -- features a special factory-installed aerodynamic package along with the optimized powertrain combination of the PACCAR MX-13 engine integrated with the Eaton Fuller Advantage(TM) 10-speed automated transmission. The aerodynamic treatments include longer side extenders for the T680 76-inch sleeper, lower cab fairing extenders, front air dam, aerodynamic mud flaps, rear fairing without steps coupled with an air deflector, exhaust cut out covers, and optional wheel covers for drive tires. Other fuel-efficient specs for the T680 Advantage include speed control management that utilizes speed limiters; a tire pressure monitoring system to keep tires at optimum PSI; and the new Kenworth Idle Management System, which eliminates the need to idle in order to run air conditioning.

Kenworth Announces Kenworth T680 Idle Management System

Kenworth announced that the new, factory-installed Kenworth Idle Management System is now available as an option for the Kenworth T680 with a 76-inch sleeper. The system offers a battery-based auxiliary power unit (APU) system for air conditioning that is tied directly into the Kenworth T680's ducting system. An optional fuel-fired heater provides full engine-off heating capability. Combined with a new insulation package for the T680 cab and 76-inch sleeper, the system can provide more than 12 hours of continuous AC performance in typical off-hour downtime. Powered by four PACCAR batteries, the AC system has a small under-bunk footprint to maintain storage space for drivers and passengers. The Kenworth Idle Management System features full on-board controls in the sleeper to control both cooling and heating.
