Kenworth Truck Company Announces Two New Product Enhancements on Kenworth T270 and T370 Fuel Tanks
Sep 10 15
Kenworth Truck Company (Kirkland, Washington) announced the availability of two new product enhancements on the Kenworth T270 and T370 fuel tanks mounted between the frame rails behind the rear axle and a narrower battery box. Together these enhancements are part of a focused Medium Duty Body Builder Expansion program that opens up more frame packaging options for medium duty customers with complex body installations such as utilities, fire and street maintenance departments, towing operators and hydronic service providers. The new battery box, which is 6 inches narrower than the standard box, frees up space on the left-hand side for body installations and for a small DEF tank to be mounted under the cab. With this option, the air tanks are now located on the back of the cab rather than the standard placement below the battery box. A matching narrow tool box is also available for the right side of the T270 and T370, and can be combined with a fuel tank pulled forward to lessen the effect on the back of the cab. In this case, the DEF tank is mounted behind a right-hand narrow tool box.
Kenworth Introduces Advanced Charge Start System
Mar 25 15
Kenworth announced advanced technology for enhanced protection against battery drainage. The system provides a dedicated engine start module and an inverter for increased performance. Kenworth also is announcing availability of a new inverter/charger option for easier battery recharging while parked. Also new is an automatic battery monitoring and engine startup for the Kenworth Idle Management System. Kenworth now offers the ultracapacitor-based Engine Start Module (ESM) as a factory-installed option for new Kenworth T680s and T880s. The engine start module provides dedicated power to start the truck. That frees the truck's standard batteries to focus on powering accessory devices such as a laptop, microwave, refrigerator and television electronics in addition to the truck's electronics and lights. The ESM is designed to start an engine in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit to a high of 149 degrees Fahrenheit, even when the batteries have low voltage. The ESM is among several advanced technology components introduced at the 2015 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.
Kenworth Launches KENWORTH TruckTech+ and KENWORTH NAV+ HD
Mar 25 15
Kenworth announced two new technology products to improve vehicle diagnostics and productivity on the road – KENWORTH TruckTech+ and KENWORTH NAV+ HD. KENWORTH TruckTech+ will be available for new Kenworth Class 8 trucks specified with the PACCAR MX-13 engine starting this summer. Kenworth customers will benefit from real-time vehicle health monitoring technology provided by PeopleNet, the telematics provider for the Kenworth system. The system will allow the PACCAR MX-13 engine to “talk” with the fleet manager, Kenworth call center and Kenworth dealer to optimize truck uptime and productivity. KENWORTH TruckTech+ saves time by providing clear information to the driver and fleet manager on the proper next steps. Fault codes and engine performance data are sent via the truck’s standard modem to Kenworth’s analytics center, where possible root causes are diagnosed and solutions are recommended via email notification. Notifications may include keep driving, no action required; keep driving and have the fault addressed during the next service interval; head to a dealer for service; or pull over to prevent damage. If the customer needs to take the truck in for service, the system maps out the locations of the three closest repair facilities. In addition, the data is sent to a secure web portal where the fleet manager can review the truck’s location, status, identified issue and recommended solution. KENWORTH NAV+ HD is a next-generation, multi-function communication and entertainment system that is standard for new Kenworth Class 8 trucks ordered with Kenworth’s premium interior package, and available as an option for all new Kenworth Class 6-8 conventional trucks. It’s designed with numerous options aimed at providing solutions to every day needs. KENWORTH NAV+ HD features a 7-inch high-definition touch screen, plus integration into the Kenworth SmartWheel steering wheel. The system offers hands-free Bluetooth phone capability, truck navigation through Co-Pilot, iPod and MP3 integration, integrated SiriusXM satellite radio, virtual gauges, camera inputs and a host of other features. In addition, it offers WiFi capability.
