Baltimore Gas and Electric Company announced that Robert D. Biagiotti, P.E., has been named vice president and chief customer officer (CCO) for the company. In this position, Biagiotti will strengthen BGE’s commitment to best-in-class customer service while helping customers meet their energy management needs. As BGE’s lead customer advocate, he is responsible for ensuring a comprehensive view of all customer-facing functions throughout the company and fostering continued, sustainable improvements in customer service. Biagiotti has held numerous technical and leadership positions throughout his 24 year tenure with BGE. Prior to being named chief customer officer, Biagiotti served as the vice president of gas distribution, where he was responsible for the safe operation of BGE’s gas system including gas engineering and planning, regional gas operations, design services, damage prevention, regulatory compliance and integrity management functions.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company reported unaudited earnings results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported GAAP net income of $46 million, compared with $50 million in the third quarter of 2013. Adjusted (non-GAAP) operating earnings were $46 million compared with $51 million in the third quarter of 2013. Company’s adjusted (non-GAAP) operating earnings in the third quarter of 2014 decreased $5 million from the same quarter in 2013, primarily due to increased contracting as a result of an increase in maintenance related activities and incremental storm costs, which were partially offset by increased distribution revenues pursuant to increased rates effective in December 2013.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Company's Smart Energy Savers Program recently teamed up with University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health to help Upper Chesapeake Health better manage their energy use through BGE's Combined Heat and Power Program. Upper Chesapeake Health unveiled its new combined heat and power plant, which is located on site at the medical campus in Bel Air, Maryland. BGE presents University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health with $1.5 million in incentives through the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program Combined Heat and Power Program. Overall, the completed combined heat and power energy efficiency project is expected to save Upper Chesapeake $9 million over 20 years and will generate approximate 13 million kilowatt hours annually, making a positive impact on the electric grid, the local environment and importantly, the employees and patients of Upper Chesapeake Health.
