The Peterson Companies and Brandywine Realty Trust Announce Woodland Park Mixed-Use Joint Venture

The Peterson Companies and Brandywine Realty Trust announced the formation of a 50/50 joint venture to develop a 300,000-square foot mixed-use town center development in Herndon, Virginia. Peterson will be the lead developer for the retail and entertainment components that will serve as an amenity base for Brandywine Realty Trust's existing 1.86 million square feet of office buildings and the surrounding community. Brandywine originally purchased the land in 2012. The joint venture will seek a rezoning of the property and anticipates commencement of the development in 2016. The development is envisioned as a mixed-use town center that, at completion, will feature residential units perched above high-quality retail and restaurants, entertainment uses which could include a multi-screen movie theater or other types of destination entertainment and high-end amenities including a lifestyle fitness center. Pedestrian friendly streets, outdoor seating and year-round events and programming will create a true sense of place. The Wood Oak site is a 10-acre parcel of land located in Woodland Park along Sunrise Valley Drive in Herndon, Virginia. Wood Oak Center will benefit from both the well-established office population along the Dulles Toll Road as well as the established neighborhoods in Herndon and Reston.
Peterson Companies Announces Two New Restaurants for Promenade at Virginia Gateway

Peterson Companies unveiled that BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will open new locations at Promenade at Virginia Gateway -- a 300,000 square foot lifestyle center located in Gainesville, Virginia. Promenade is the much anticipated lifestyle component of the highly successful Virginia Gateway project featuring more than one million square feet of retail, restaurants, office and hotel. In addition to BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, Promenade will also include White House | Black Market, Soma, La Tagliatella, Ann Taylor Loft, Bar Louie, Nando's Peri Peri, Pinkberry, Charming Charlie and a 14-screen Regal Movie Theater, along with pedestrian friendly streets and a dedicated events plaza. The project is scheduled to open Fall 2013. The 8,376 square foot BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse will feature an innovative and broad menu featuring award-winning, signature deep-dish pizza complemented with generously portioned salads, appetizers, sandwiches, soups, pastas, entrees and desserts, including the Pizookie(R) desserts. In addition, the company operates several microbreweries and partners with qualified contract brewers to produce and distribute BJ's critically acclaimed proprietary handcrafted beers. The 6,790 square foot Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will open and feature upscale, casual dining and American cuisine in a cozy, intimate setting infused with tantalizing wood-fired aromas.

Peterson Companies announced development plans for the Ontario Theatre site located at the corner of 17(th) Street and Columbia Road, NW in Washington, DC. The project will include 80 residential homes and 9,000 SF of retail. This is the first residential development for the Peterson Companies in the District of Columbia. The $30 million mixed-use project will commence vertical construction in the fall of 2013 with completion scheduled for spring 2015. Condominium homes will be available in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans, and will include gourmet kitchens, private balconies, hardwood floors, underground parking, and walk-in closets. Residents will enjoy access to a common rooftop terrace with stunning views of downtown Washington and the National Mall. The building is being designed by The Eisen Group of Washington, DC, and draws inspiration from Adams Morgan's rich architectural history of art deco residential blocks, while distinguishing itself with contemporary features that speak to newer, industrial-styled buildings. The proposed design will also incorporate certain art deco elements from the old Ontario Theatre, including a corner canopy, poster cases, and the coming attractions marquee signs. McWilliams Ballard will manage residential sales with homes available for purchase in early 2014. Peterson Companies will handle the retail leasing and management.
