International Franchise Association Appoints to its Board of Directors

Ten leading franchise professionals have been elected to the International Franchise Association Board of Directors. The newly-elected board members will assume their positions at the conclusion of the 56th IFA Annual Convention in San Antonio on Feb. 23, 2016. The new IFA directors are: John Draper, CEO, Viridian Group, LLC; Tariq Farid, Founder and CEO, Edible Arrangements International; Sherri Fishman, President and Co-Founder, Fishman PR; Mike Hickey, EVP and President of Global Institutional for Ecolab Inc.; Roy Jackson, SVP, Business Development and Industry Affairs, Coca-Cola North America, Foodservice and On Premise Division; David McKinnon, Senior Advisor at the Dwyer Group; John Rotche, CEO, TITLE Boxing International; Charles Stempler, AlphaGraphics multi-unit franchisee; Jeffrey Tews, BrightStar Care and Mr. Handyman multi-unit franchisee; and Simone Wu, SVP, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and External Affairs, Choice Hotels International.
International Franchise Association Announces Management Changes

International Franchise Association announced that after five-and-a-half years as President and CEO, Steve Caldeira, CFE, has tendered his resignation. After ongoing attempts to align on a new CEO contract by both parties, those efforts unfortunately failed. Robert Cresanti, currently IFA executive vice president of Government Relations and Public Policy, has been named interim Chief Operating Officer. The Board of Directors has formed a search committee to immediately begin the process of identifying and recruiting a new President and CEO.
International Franchise Association Appoints Michael Layman as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

The International Franchise Association announced the addition of Michael Layman, a seasoned government relations and public policy professional as Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. Prior to joining the IFA on a permanent basis, Layman worked for IFA in an Of Counsel capacity on workforce policy issues since September 2014. Formerly, Layman was a senior manager with Littler's Workplace Policy Institute. He also worked at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as Manager of Employment and Labor Policy from January 2007 to August 2013. Layman advanced SHRM's views on employment, labor relations and civil rights legislation with Congressional offices and the Administration, leading multiple national coalitions on employment and labor policy.
