Volkswagen Russia Introduces Updated Version of Polo

Volkswagen AG has launched the updated version of the Polo sedan in Russia. It features a revised front end with a new radiator grille, a redesigned lower bumper and headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, new alloy wheel and hubcap designs and additional paint colours and interiors with the same steering wheel as the Polo hatchback. It is equipped with a 1.6-litre petrol four-cylinder engine that delivers either 84bhp or103bhp, coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, but select trim levels can be ordered with a six-speed automatic unit at an extra cost. The vehicle is produced in Kaluga, Russia and it is to arrive at dealerships during next month.
Volkswagen Group Rus to Cut Workforce at Kaluga-Based Plant

Volkswagen Group Rus will lay off some 600 workers at its plant in the Russian city of Kaluga. Specifically the company will not extend contracts with 150 employees that are set to expire before long. Besides, some workers can be dismissed under a settlement agreement that envisages compensation. The headcount cut is ascribed to a shorter workweek at the plant. It will work four days a week from April till June, with Friday being an idle day. The plant will also suspend work during the May holidays, in particular on May 5-8 and May 12-15.
