Feb 12 14
U.S. Department of Labor attorneys have filed a lawsuit against AT & T for suspending 13 workers - including three area men - without pay for reporting workplace injuries. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the employees against The Ohio Bell Telephone Co., which operates as AT & T, involving unpaid suspensions after reporting workplace injuries from 2011 to 2013. The whistleblower lawsuit alleges that in 13 separate incidents, AT & T employees were disciplined and served one-to three-day unpaid suspensions for reporting injuries that occurred on the job. One of the employees is based in Uhrichsville and two in Canton. The others are based in Columbus, Brooklyn Heights, Akron, Cleveland and Gallipolis. Each of the men are employed as a customer service specialist. Timothy Lyons is based in Uhrichsville, while William Duff and Rodd Morris work out of separate sites in Canton. Lyons has worked for the company for 19 years; Duff for 18; and Morris for 15.
