Shaw Industries, Inc. to Invest $45 Million in Lexington County, S.C. Carpet Fiber Plant

Shaw Industries, Inc. has announced it is investing at least $45 million in its Lexington County, S.C. carpet fiber plant for additional capacity for both nylon and polyester production. The investment will create more than 50 new jobs. The plant's new polyester extrusion operations will include the use of recycled plastic beverage bottles expanding Shaw's use of the material. Production on the new equipment will begin at the Lexington County plant in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Shaw Industries, Inc. to Cut 160 Jobs at Valley Head Plant

Shaw Industries, Inc. is cutting nearly half the staff at its plant in Valley Head, Ala., as the Dalton, Ga.-based carpet maker continues to shift its production capacity from filmanet to staple products. The company is laying off 160 employees at the Valley Head facility. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and its Rapid Response Team will help employees with outplacement assistance and retraining. The company is talking with employers to find opportunities for workers who don't want to transfer to other Shaw facilities, but the company overall has been adding staff in the past couple of years.

Southwest Greens International along with parent company Shaw Industries, announced partnership with Classic Clay. Based out of Sydney, Australia Classic Clay is the first and only 'waterless' artificial clay tennis court surface. Clay courts are considered the classic surface for discriminating tennis players. Unlike asphalt courts waterless courts allow for year round playability, conserve water and require little maintenance.
