EDF Energies Nouvelles Officially Opens 150-MW Wind Farm in Quebec

The Canadian unit EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) officially dedicated the 150-MW first phase of the 350-MW Riviere-du-Moulin wind project in the province of Quebec. The whole park, located in the unorganised territories (UTs) of Lac-Pikauba and Lac-Ministuk, will be completed in December 2015, when the second 200-MW phase is to be commissioned. By the end of 2017, EDF EN Canada Inc. will have put online 1,599 MW of wind and solar capacity in Canada. The Riviere-du-Moulin complex will be powered by 175 Senvion turbines to produce as much power as 77,700 local homes consume. It will sell its output under a single 20-year power purchase agreement with Hydro-Quebec Distribution.
EDF Energies Nouvelles Sets Up a Subsidiary in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

EDF Energies Nouvelles has entered the Brazilian renewable energy market by setting up EDF EN do Brasil, a subsidiary in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. EDF Energies Nouvelles' subsidiary starts its local operations by acquiring a majority stake in a pipeline of about 800 MW wind energy projects from SOWITEC. This portfolio will be developed in partnership by EDF EN do Brasil and SOWITEC which remains involved with a minority stake of 20%. Located in one of the windiest areas of the state of Bahia, the pipeline includes a 70 MW first project due to be commissioned by year-end 2017 whose output will be sold under a 20-year PPA already signed with ANEEL.
ACWA and Abengoa Reported The Lowest Bids For Morocco Ouarzazate CSP Plants

The second phase of Moroccan Ouarzazate CSP project has received lowest bids from Abengoa SA (CATS:ABG) and ACWA Power International, Reuters reported citing sources involved in the deal. The official result for the tender is expected in the coming weeks. The three consortium selected to bid for Noor II, a 200 MW parabolic trough plant were Abengoa SA (CATS:ABG) and Abengoa Solar S.A.; ACWA Power International and SENER Grupo de Ingeniería, S.A. and International Power SA and Masdar. For the Noor III, a 100 MW CSP plant, the consortiums selected were Abengoa SA (CATS:ABG) and Abengoa Solar S.A.; Electricite de France SA (ENXTPA:EDF), EDF Energies Nouvelles S.A., BrightSource Energy, Inc., Brookstone Partners, Alstom Power System SA and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. (TSE:8031); ACWA Power International and SENER Ingeniería y Sistemas S.A.; International Power SA, SolarReserve, LLC and Masdar.
