YMCA of the USA Announces Board Changes

YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) announced the election of Christine Marcks as chair of the nonprofits national board of directors. Marcks, president of Prudential Retirement, will provide leadership to the 27-member board, which sets strategic direction and policy to guide the Ys work of strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Marcks succeeds Sharon Allen, retired chairman of the board at Deloitte LLP and will serve a two-year term, ending in 2016. In addition, the Y-USA board of directors elects: Board Chair-Elect: Steven J. Malcolm, retired chairman, president and CEO, Williams (Tulsa, Okla.); Treasurer: Pamela Davies, Ph.D., president, Queens University of Charlotte (also elected to serve additional term until 2016); Secretary: Judah Sommer, senior counsel, Crowell and Moring (Washington, D.C.); Board Members: Alan Hostrup, president and CEO, YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and Shannon Seifert, president and CEO, Santa Maria Valley YMCA (Calif.); Current Board Members to Term Extensions (2014-2016): Michael Eicher, senior vice president for advancement, Ohio State University; Curt Hazelbaker, president and CEO, YMCA of Northwest North Carolina; and Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., Esq., president and CEO, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (Washington, D.C.).

YMCA Announces Executive Appointments

YMCA announced two new directors, Sarah Hearn and Andrea Dyer. Both have been with the YMCA for some time and have been promoted to new director positions. Hearn is the YMCA's new school-age child care director. Dyer is the new assistant site director at Auburn-Lewiston YMCA's Daisy Garden Preschool in Lewiston. She has been a lead teacher for the Y during the last three years.
