Cadent Technology, Inc. Key Developments

Cadent Technology Joins Reference Design Kit Community

Cadent Technology announced that it has joined the Reference Design Kit (RDK) Community. Within the community, Cadent Technology, who has previously deployed advertising solutions for on-demand and multiscreen experiences across their 40 million household footprint, will primarily focus on Linear Segmented Advertising that inserts targeted ads into live and time-shifted experiences on the RDK-V (Video) software. Consumers increasingly view TV programming wherever and whenever they want. The solutions to support these fragmented audiences have become silos to accommodate for each of these viewing platforms, making it difficult to provide consistent advertising capabilities to the content providers and advertisers. Cadent Technology unifies the advertising experience by enabling a holistic integration approach with standardized interfaces across multiple viewing platforms, such as, QAM, IP, and DVR. Cadent Technology joins over 250 other RDK members comprised of chip vendors, OEM hardware manufacturers, app developers, system integrators, and operators. The RDK is a pre-integrated software bundle that provides a common framework for powering customer-premises equipment (CPE) from TV service providers; including set-top boxes, gateways, and converged devices. The RDK was created to accelerate the deployment of next-gen video products and services. It enables TV service providers to standardize certain elements of these devices, but also to easily customize the applications and user experiences that ride on top. Cadent Technology is working to advance the company’s addressable linear solution which enables pay-TV providers to monetize traditional linear television content with household-level targeting on RDK set-top boxes. Combined with Cadent’s existing solutions for Video On Demand (VOD) for QAM, on-demand content for IP based devices, and mobile/over-the-top (OTT) applications, the company’s addressable linear solution enables advanced advertising capabilities across the full range of viewing experiences.

BlackArrow Launches Advertising and Data Solutions for On-Demand Content Viewed on Internet Connected Devices

BlackArrow announced that it has deployed dynamic ad insertion (DAI) capabilities for on-demand content that is delivered to internet connected devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops. Time Warner Cable, which has already deployed BlackArrow's solutions for their linear over IP and traditional VOD platforms, is the first customer to deploy BlackArrow's solution for internet delivered on-demand content into the market. TV viewers are shifting their video consumption to on-demand viewing and on multiple screens. The average time a viewer spends watching time-shifted content has increased in the last year to over 14 hours per month and on-demand content now reaches more than 173 million people per month. Viewing on internet connected devices and smartphones has also increased by 60% in the last year to over 12 hours per month on average per person. By using BlackArrow's system, pay-TV providers will be able to centralize the management of their ad campaigns, business policies, reporting, and ad execution across their full spectrum of viewing platforms. Having BlackArrow's solutions deployed across traditional and IP delivery platforms serving linear and on-demand content allows advertisers to comprehensively reach viewers wherever and whenever they are watching.
