Charlotte City Council approved several consent items during the meeting held in July 28, 2014, to ensure Charlotte Douglas International Airport continues to meet its current and future goals. City Council awarded the low-bid to Messer Construction Co. for construction of a rental car storage facility, approved a professional services contract with Summit ECS to perform testing services for the remote rental car storage facility and adopted a budget ordinance from the Contract Facility Charge Fund to the Aviation Community Investment Plan Fund.
Messer Construction Announces Executive Changes

Messer Construction announced that Allen Begley has been promoted to senior vice president, and will assume executive leadership of the contractor's Knoxville office, as well as providing senior-level oversight to its operations in Nashville. For the last 15 years, Begley has led the Messer office in Dayton, Ohio. Messer's East Tennessee projects include the Tickle Engineering Building, at the University of Tennessee; the Clayton Center for the Arts, in Maryville; and Carter Elementary School, in East Knox County. The company also said John Blum has been named senior project executive and will lead the firm's projects in the Knoxville region.
