Guitar Center has announced the appointment of Michael Amkreutz to the position of Executive Vice President, Marketing, Merchandising and E-Commerce, for the Guitar Center brand. In this new role, Amkreutz will be responsible for all aspects of GC's product assortment, in-store merchandising, marketing campaigns and e-commerce strategy. Amkreutz joins Guitar Center from Systemax North American Technologies, where he most recently held the role of Chief Marketing Officer.

Guitar Center announced that its Board of Directors appointed Darrell Webb to be the company's new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Webb, a proven executive with experience growing multiple retail businesses, was recruited by the Board to lead Guitar Center as the company looks to capitalize on its growth prospects. Mr. Webb replaces former CEO Mike Pratt, who resigned. Mr. Webb has more than 30 years of experience in retailing and has led several multi-billion dollar retailers through periods of rapid growth. From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Webb served as Chairman and CEO of The Sports Authority, Inc. Prior to that, between 2006 and 2011, Mr. Webb was Chairman, CEO and President of Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores, the large fabric and craft retailer in the U.S., which had record earnings during his leadership. Prior to Jo-Ann, Mr. Webb spent more than 20 years with Fred Meyer, Inc. and The Kroger Company, following its merger with Fred Meyer. At Kroger, Mr. Webb most recently served as President of Fred Meyer Stores from 2002 to 2006.
Guitar Center Appoints Eddie Combs as Senior Vice President of Marketing

Guitar Center has appointed Eddie Combs as senior vice president of marketing. Combs' extensive expertise in eCommerce, digital marketing, mobile experiences, customer loyalty and demographic targeting will allow him to drive Guitar Center's innovative branding efforts and marketing initiatives. In his role, Combs will work closely with Christopher Ian Bennett, VP, Communications and Corporate Affairs; Dustin Hinz, VP, Brand Experience and Entertainment Marketing; and Jeff Hiller, VP, Brand Manager, to strengthen GC's retail marketing strategy to help elevate sales and store traffic. After an extensive career at Motorola in various marketing roles, Eddie joined Sears in 2007, where he held several marketing leadership roles in the Home Improvement, Fitness, and Consumer Electronics Divisions. Most recently, Eddie was the vice president and Chief Marketing Officer for Sears Holding Corporations' Home Appliance Business.
