BTIG, LLC Announces Management Changes

BTIG, LLC announced a number of senior hires in its Investment Banking and Capital Markets division. In New York, Charles Mather has joined the firm as a Managing Director within the firm’s Capital Markets Group while Brett Fodero has joined as a Director within the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Investment Banking Group. In San Francisco, Gene Ramirez, Managing Director, Steven Marder, Director, and Matthew McLeod, Vice President, have joined the firm within its TMT Investment Banking Group, and Gregory Wade, Managing Director, has joined within the firm’s Healthcare Investment Banking Group. Charles Mather will advise clients on traditional public, private and other alternative capital raising strategies across the consumer, healthcare and TMT sectors. Mr. Mather brings over 20 years of capital markets experience to BTIG. Prior to joiningBTIG, he was Co-Head of Equity Capital Markets and Head of the Private and Alternative Capital Group at Janney Montgomery Scott. Previously, he was Head of the Structured Equity Group at Jefferies and Head of the Private Equity Group at Cowen. The TMT Investment Banking Group is led by Gene Ramirez. Along with Steven Marder, Brett Fodero and Matthew McLeod, they are responsible for providing capital markets and M&A-related expertise and strategic advisory services to growth companies within the TMT industry. Mr. Ramirez was a Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecommunications Merchant and Investment Banking at Morgan Joseph TriArtisan. He has been in the investment banking industry since the mid-1990s, having started his career at Robertson Stephens. Earlier in his career, he founded two technology companies. Mr. Marderjoins the firm after an extensive 25-year career as an attorney, entrepreneur, advisor and operating partner at a number of firms including Avista Capital Partners and Morgan Joseph TriArtisan. Mr. Fodero joins BTIG from BMO Capital Markets, where he served as an equity research analyst focused on the software industry. Previously, he was a member of the software research team at Lazard Capital Markets for more than five years. Mr. McLeod joins BTIG from Morgan Joseph Tri Artisan as well, where he served as a member of the TMT team for more than four years. He began his career nearly eight years ago as an investment banker at Lazard Frères. Gregory Wade, PhD., will advise companies on strategic and capital-raising-related events and transactions across the healthcare industry with a focus on life sciences and medical technology. Dr. Wade was most recently Head of Business Development at Pharmacyclics Inc., and previously worked as a research analyst at Pacific Growth Equities and its successor firm for 14 years.

BTIG LLC Announces Executive Appointments

BTIG LLC announced that it has made two key additions to their staff with the hiring of David' O'Connor and Katie Shields. O'Connor and Shields each bring significant experience to company's growing FX business, which now stands at 16 professionals. The company recently added a team based in Chicago to complement the New York desk. O'Connor joins the New York FX desk as a Director in FX Sales. He most recently served as a director in FX sales for three years at Macquarie Bank and has also worked in a sales capacity for HSBC Bank USA, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. He was head of Asian FX sales for RBC Sydney. Shields joins the company as Director of FICC Operations at BTIG where she will be responsible for back office operations for the Fixed Income, Currency, Commodities and FX business. Shields is a 14-year veteran of Morgan Stanley, where she has held positions in their Prime Brokerage and Cross-Product Operations groups.

BTIG LLC Opens New Chicago-Based FX Desk; Announces Executive Appointments

BTIG LLC has opened a new Chicago-based FX desk with the appointment of Michael Artim, Brandon Walsh, and Chris Karabelas. Artim, Walsh and Karabelas most recently worked together at Newedge Group in Chicago and will each serve at BTIG as Directors of Foreign Exchange Sales. Prior to Newedge, he worked at BMO Capital Markets in foreign exchange sales and has also served in sales and trading roles for ABN AMRO, ING Bank and Paine Webber. Artim began trading in the commodity markets and expanded into trading in the metals, FX, interest-rate and option markets over his 25 year career. Walsh joined Newedge in 2008 as part of the FX trading team. Prior to that, he was an FX trader and dealer in the Australian and Chicago offices of Fimat. Walsh began his career as an analyst for Bank of America Securities, based in its Charlotte, NC office. Karabelas also joined Newedge as an FX trader in 2008. He began his career at ABN AMRO in 2004 as an FX trader. The team will report to Alan Circle and Martin Ferraro, the Co-Heads of FX at BTIG and ultimately to Anton LeRoy, BTIG's Head of FICC (Fixed Income, Currency and Commodities). As part of this expansion of its FX group, BTIG also hired Michael Paravati as an associate in its New York office to assist with foreign exchange operations.
