Caringo Announces FileFly Secondary Storage Platform
Feb 7 17
Caringo announced the FileFly® Secondary Storage Platform, a complete solution that solves the issues associated with Microsoft® Windows® Servers bloated with infrequently accessed unstructured data. Organizations no longer need to waste budget by expanding or upgrading Windows Servers or waste resources evaluating what data is or isn't useful. They can now maintain their existing servers and seamlessly add intelligent data transfer to a limitless tier of scale-out secondary storage at a quarter of the cost. In ddition, primary storage is optimized, disk I/O is reduced and storage silos are consolidated. The FileFly Secondary Storage Platform is ideal for remote office consolidation, enabling collaboration and significantly simplifying data protection. The solution, powered by FileFly 2.0 and Caringo Swarm, utilizes policies based on file attributes and access patterns to determine what data can be moved. Data transfer is automated and transparent to users, applications and processes. Once on the secondary tier, data is continuously protected and files transparently migrate back to primary storage upon access, leaving workflows and applications unaffected.
NEP Leverages Caringo Swarm to Deliver Scale, Performance & Reliability
Dec 14 16
Caringo announced that NEP has designed and deployed a scalable, reliable, high-performance Content Distribution Network (CDN) in the Netherlands using the Caringo Swarm Cloud and Object Storage platform. From the Oscars to the Olympics, NEP provides the technology, the people and the know-how that enables clients to produce the world's biggest live and broadcast events around the globe. NEP's team of more than 2,000 employees is driven by passion and a focus on technical innovation, and together they have supported productions in over 65 countries on all seven continents. With a major shift in the Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry towards digital content production and consumption, NEP The Netherlands developed its CDN using Caringo Swarm. This network now serves more than 650,000 user accounts accessed with different consumption methods, ranging from monthly subscriptions to pay-per-view. Requiring a comprehensive platform that could provide scalability to its CDN and meet requirements in terms of capacity, cost, throughput, growth and reliability, coupled with full hardware independence, Caringo Swarm was selected after a long evaluation process that included several vendors.
Caringo Launches Swarm 9, the Cloud & Object Storage Platform
Oct 11 16
Caringo announced Swarm 9, extending the most advanced object storage platform with enhanced features focused on simplifying tenant and data management at scale. Swarm 9 features a next-generation UI, data encryption, and comprehensive protection policies making it even easier for organizations to provide storage services to their end-users. Swarm 9 comes on the heels of SwarmNFS, the first lightweight file converter to use up to 80% fewer resources than traditional gateways and bring the benefits of object storage to NFS applications. With SwarmNFS, Swarm 9 features are available to organizations with no disruption to current workflows and processes "their files can now be continuously protected, easily distributed, accessed and modified via multiple protocols. Advancements included in Swarm 9 continue to position Caringo as the leader in object-based storage. Among the latest features to benefit organizations are: New User Interface Provides both hardware and content management. Administrators and end-users can use the new HTML5-responsive UI to monitor usage, specify data protection policies, and search their content with unified access across desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile devices. Quota Management " Manages storage and bandwidth control at the tenant, storage domain and bucket levels via the new UI or REST API, enabling administrative control, end-user self-servicing, and dev-ops process automation making it even easier to provide public or private cloud storage. Historical etrics and Trends Presents Swarm metrics within new UI and through REST APIs so that customers can leverage third-party data analysis tools such as Kibana. Encryption at Rest Provides industry-standard AES-256 whole volume encryption, eliminating the need to scrub retired or failed hardware before replacement. Metadata Annotation Allows users to attach structured or unstructured metadata to existing objects without altering the base object. Elasticsearch 2.x Provides an analytics engine designed for horizontal scalability and open access to Swarm's operational metrics, metering, and metadata. Used through the new UI or with 3rd-party big data tools. Integrated SwarmNFS Management Offers complete management for SwarmNFS with the ability to define shares for domains and buckets as well as the results of any metadata search.
