Neotel (Pty) Ltd. Key Developments

Vodacom Confirms Talks To Acquire Neotel Still On

On April 2, 2014, Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) stated that it was still in discussions to acquire Neotel (Pty) Ltd from Tata Communications Limited (BSE:500483). It denied a report in the Economic Times that the deal valued about $590 million could disintegrate as the South African regulator was contemplating whether or not to allow the transfer of Neotel's spectrum to Vodacom. Vodacom’s spokesman Richard Boorman said: "We're busy finalizing the agreements and in the final stages of that part of negotiation. That article in the Indian Economic Times is just plain wrong."

Tata Communications Reportedly In Talks With Vodacom

Tata Communications Limited (BSE:500483) is reportedly in talks to sell Neotel (Pty) Ltd. to Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD), three people familiar with development said. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa is considering stripping Neotel's spectrum if the company is sold to Vodacom, said one of three people.
