Measurement Specialties Releases MS5837-30BA

Measurement Specialties has released the MS5837-30BA, a low power, compact, gel filled pressure sensor with an I(2)C bus interface and high resolution of 2 mm for depth measurement in various rugged environments. The high linearity pressure sensor features an ultra-low power delta sigma ADC that offers precise 24-bit pressure and temperature values, while using only 0.6 microampere.  With a response time as low as 0.5 ms, the MS5837-30BA offers exceptional long term stability and high measurement performance across a wide pressure range of 0 bar to 30 bar in temperatures from -20 degrees C to +85 degrees C. The anti-magnetic stainless steel cap and silicone gel protecting the internal electronics make the sensor extremely water resistant. The hermetically-sealed MS5837-30BA is ideal for adventure or multi-mode watches and can be used in other rugged outdoor devices, such as mobile water depth measurement systems, dive computers and dataloggers. The I(2)C bus allows the sensor to interface with almost any microcontroller for easy configuration.  It also provides different operating modes to attain high resolution or low power consumption. The MS5837-30BA's simple communication protocol and internal oscillator eliminate the need for external components.  The high resolution temperature output enables the unit to be used in depth measurement systems and thermometer functions without the need for an additional sensor. This new digital pressure sensor is based on leading MEMS technology from Measurement Specialties as well as the company's proven experience in high volume manufacturing, and easily integrates into existing vacuum nozzle pick and place processes (tape and reel). Measurement Specialties Releases the Model 7132AHT, New Accelerometer with Exceptional Linearity over Wide Dynamic Range

Measurement Specialties has released the Model 7132AHT, a high temperature, miniature accelerometer with exceptional linearity across dynamic ranges from +/-50 g to +/-2,000 g. The unit's stable temperature response ensures reliable operation over an extended temperature range of -55 degrees C to +163 degrees C, making this triaxial IEPE accelerometer useful in high temperature, high frequency, shock and vibration testing. In addition to its specific uses in automotive testing and laboratory environments, the Model 7132AHT is ideal for many general purpose data acquisition applications, due to its exceptional performance characteristics. The sensor uses stable piezo-ceramic crystals in annular shear mode for long term, stable operation as well as offers flat frequency response across a wide bandwidth up to 10 kHz. In addition, the Model 7132AHT features residual noise as low as 0.001 g RMS (@ +/-50 g), with a maximum of only 0.005 g RMS (@ +/-2,000 g). Output impedance is more than 100 Ohms and full scale voltage output is +/-5 V across all dynamic ranges. Other notable parameters include an excitation current of 2 mA to 10 mA, a compliance voltage of 22 VDC to 33 VDC, transverse sensitivity of less than 5% and non-linearity of +/-1% FSO.

Measurement Specialties Announces Two New Low-Cost DC Accelerometers

Measurement Specialties announced that the company offers two new low-cost DC accelerometers that provide long term, stable measurements in structural and vibration monitoring applications. The rugged, high-performance Model 4020 and Model 4030 deliver MEMS capacitive sensing technologies and microelectronics at a very low cost. By combining a durable, IP65-rated house with attributes such as a low pass filter output that enhances signal processing for stable operation, these accelerometers provide high resolution measurement and long term stability in critical structural applications. Specific uses include low frequency vibration monitoring, motion measurements and structural monitoring as well as tilt and inclination measurement. The low noise, signal conditioned sensors are available in either a +/-2 g or a +/-6 g full scale dynamic measurement range, and are offered in a dual-axial (Model 4020) or triaxial (Model 4030) configuration. Sensitivity is 1,000 mV/g and 333 mV/g, respectively, for the +/-2 g and +/-6 g dynamic ranges. Across both dynamic ranges, the sensors offer a frequency response of 0 Hz to 200 Hz, non-linearity of +/-1% FSO and transverse sensitivity of more than 3%. Zero acceleration output is 2.5 V (+/-1), excitation voltage is 5 VDC to 30 VDC and excitation current is 4 mA. The sensors' shock limit is 2,000 g and operating temperature is -40°C to +85°C with a thermal zero shift of +/-4% FSO and a thermal sensitivity shift of +/-5%. The molded, rugged housing is nylon 6-6 with 305 GF and brass inserts at the mounting holes. Each sensor weighs 50 grams and can be securely screw-mounted using two 1/4" or M6 screws. An integral #24 AWG cable is included for easy connection. Technical Specifications: DC response, silicon MEMS technology; low-cost, rugged, high-performance sensors for structural monitoring; +/-2 g or +/-6 g dynamic ranges; and Bi-axial (4020) and triaxial (4030) versions available.
