Dairy Queen Mulls Partners In India

International Dairy Queen, Inc. wants a quick bite of India's fast growing QSR (quick service restaurant) market. Dairy Queen is looking for new partners to launch its burger chain in India, reported Economic Times citing a person familiar with the matter. The person said, "The company would initially want to look at opening around 100 burger stores here."

The Dairy Queen System to Open First Location in New York City

The Dairy Queen system, part of Berkshire Hathaway announced its official entry into New York City with the scheduled opening of its Manhattan restaurant this spring. Located at 54 West 14th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, this new restaurant will create more than 50 jobs on a continuous basis and will be the first ever two-story DQ Grill & Chill(R) restaurant in the country. LSQ Foods has signed a multi-unit agreement and will operate the Manhattan location. The company plans to aggressively expand in Manhattan with the DQ(R) brand. The two-story, 2,500 square-foot Manhattan DQ Grill & Chill restaurant will seat more than 100 and will offer a full food and treat menu including $5 Buck Lunch, the only value meal in the quick-service restaurant industry that comes with a sundae. Traditional and indulgent Dairy Queen soft serve treats that everybody knows and loves are also on the menu, such as signature Blizzard Treats, DQ Cakes and cones as well as Orange Julius Premium Fruit Smoothies and Orange Julius Light Smoothies. In 2013, the Dairy Queen system opened two DQ Grill & Chill locations just outside Manhattan, one in Massapequa and one in the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.
