New York Stock Exchange LLC Key Developments

New York Stock Exchange Launches Binary Return Derivatives (ByRDs), an Innovative New Options Product

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), part of the Intercontinental Exchange announced the NYSE Amex Options platform of the NYSE MKT exchange will commence trading of Binary Return Derivatives (ByRDsSM) on April 21. ByRDs are a new listed equity options product with limited profit potential and defined risk for both buyers and sellers. NYSE Amex Options is the first exchange platform to offer ByRDs on equities and exchange traded products (ETPs) to retail investors. Trading on the NYSE Amex Options platform, ByRDs are based on an underlying equity security, such as a stock or an ETP. They offer a fixed return of $100.00 per contract, based on whether the volume-weighted average price of the underlying security is above or below a given level on a defined future date. They also provide a capped maximum risk to the seller of $100.00 per contract, less the premium received for selling the option. ByRDs are cash-settled and exercisable only at expiration, unlike standard listed equity options. ByRDs share some of the same features as standard listed options, such as standardized expiration dates and clearing, and settlement at the Options Clearing Corporation.

The New York Stock Exchange Announces Executive Appointments

The New York Stock Exchange announced it has completed the transition of its regulatory services, along with two leadership appointments in the areas of Listings and Regulation. Consistent with this new structure, Anthony J. Albanese has joined NYSE as the new Chief Regulatory Officer (CRO). Most recently, Albanese served as the Acting Superintendent for the New York State Department of Financial Services, where he led a team of 1,400 employees with oversight of 3,800 financial services entities. Previously, Albanese spent 13 years at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, where he was a partner specializing in securities litigation. Albanese oversees all regulatory compliance for NYSE listed companies and the reorganized NYSE regulatory affairs teams. Mary Brienza, the current Chief Regulatory Officer, will retire from the NYSE in June. In addition, John Tuttle has been promoted to Global Head of Listings. Tuttle has spent nearly a decade with NYSE in a variety of management positions, most recently Chief of Staff, where he developed strong relationships with business and political leaders around the world. Tuttle leads a team that oversees relationships with more than 2,400 NYSE listed companies. Garvis Toler, Global Head of Capital Markets will continue driving new business growth for initial public offerings and will work closely with Tuttle. Both report to Tom Farley, NYSE Group President.
