Singapore Maritime and Port Authority and Port of Rotterdam Partner for Information Exchange and R&D

Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to share information on marine services. This agreement will allow the companies to collaborate on research and development (R&D) of service efficiency and optimisation in the maritime and port sectors. The agreement to exchange information will see the sharing of standards, procedures and regulatory frameworks of bunkering and other marine services, including the use of information technology, to facilitate services to vessels. The research and development efforts will focus on service efficiency and optimisation, as well as new developments in the maritime and port sectors, such as LNG bunkering, green shipping and port optimisation. This collaboration aims to improve ship safety and environmental sustainability, and also promote and share maritime technology thought-leadership.

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Announces Board Changes, Effective February 2, 2015

Maritime Port Authority of Singapore appointed Carl Krogh Arnet, chief executive officer, BW Offshore; Luke Goh, senior director, PS21 Office, Public Service Division, Prime Minister's Office and institute director (Institute of Governance and Policy), Civil Service College; Kam Soon Huat, general secretary and chief operating officer, Singapore Organisation of Seamen; and Quek Bin Hwee, vice-chairman (markets and industries), Asia Pacific Clients and Markets Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers to their board. Their appointments will be for a period of three years and will effect from Feb. 2, 2015 save for Quek, who according to MOT, will serve as board member from April 1, 2015 to Feb. 1, 2018. Meanwhile, the following board members will be stepping down on Feb. 2, 2015: Thomas Tay, emeritus general secretary, Singapore Maritime Officers' Union; James Wong, deputy secretary (policy), Public Service Division, Prime Minister's Office; and Robert Yap, executive chairman, YCH Group. The MPA board - chaired by Lucien Wong, chairman and senior partner at Allen & Gledhill.
