VERBUND AG (WBAG:VER) intends to acquire KELAG-Kärntner Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft. "It would be interesting to obtain the majority [in Kelag],” VERBUND Chief Executive Officer Wolfgang Anzengruber told the daily Presse. "But where there is no seller, there can be no buyer.” It is unclear whether Austria's region Carinthia would be interested in the sale of its stake in VERBUND is also interested in other regional utilities with a high share of hydropower, such as the ones in Tirol, he said.
