Airbus Prosky and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore Collaborate to Enhance Air Traffic Efficiency

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Airbus ProSky announced the collaborative partnership with the signing of a Research Collaboration Agreement (RCA) between Mr. Yap Ong Heng, Director-General of CAAS, and Mr. Eric Stefanello, President of Airbus ProSky, to jointly develop a Concept of Operations for Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) based on Collaborative Decision Making (CDM). The RCA follows the foundational Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Air Traffic Management (ATM) research and development collaboration that was signed in November 2012. The MoC is part of CAAS’ larger effort to advance ATM research and development in Singapore under its Centre of Excellence for ATM initiative.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University Sign Memorandum of Agreement to Establish the Air Traffic Management Research Institute

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University have signed a Memorandum of Agreement to establish the Air Traffic Management Research Institute (ATMRI) to research and development in air traffic management. Over the next five years, Civil Aviation Authority will provide SGD 50 million to fund ATM R&D activities undertaken by the ATMRI, as well as ATM experts for the research projects, while NTU will provide in-kind contributions of SGD 22 million, including research manpower and facilities. The CAAS-NTU collaboration will see synergy in Civil Aviation Authority’s domain knowledge in ATM, and Nanyang Technological University’s research capabilities and talent. The ATMRI will undertake research projects that seek to create air traffic capacity and enhance efficiency of flight operations, starting with the areas of: Air-Ground Traffic Management: Improve runway throughput through more efficient management of air traffic and airspace around the airport; Weather Forecast and Information Management: Enable advance planning of air traffic flows by minimising weather-induced disruptions to fight operations; Aircraft Separation Management: Optimise aircraft-to-aircraft separation to boost runway throughput by using better prediction and modeling tools; Human Performance: Enhance human-machine interface to reduce human errors arising from increased automation, and optimise workflow efficiency. The ATMRI will also collaborate with international entities with interests and expertise in ATM.
