Hartmut Mehdorn, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH notified Rainer Bretschneider, Chairman-in-Office of the Supervisory Board, that he is resigning his position as CEO. At the same time, Mehdorn told the Supervisory Board Chairperson that he would be willing to continue to perform his duties until a successor had been found, but that his resignation would take effect on 30 June 2015 at the latest.
The Supervisory Board and management of the Airport Company announced on 12 December 2014 that Berlin Brandenburg Airport has now been scheduled to open in the second half of 2017. The construction on the airport will be completed by March 2016 and will then be followed by its official acceptance, testing and trial operation.

Axel Arendt, former CEO of Daimler, will join the supervisory board of the Berlin-Brandenburg airport. Arendt previously also served as chief financial officer of European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company N.V. (EADS), now Airbus. Prior to his appointment to the supervisory board of the new Berlin airport, Arendt represented the regional trade association Berlin-Brandenburg Aerospace Allianz as a lobbyist.

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH and Siemens signed a contract for the alteration of the smoke extraction controls at BER. the contract package awarded to Siemens at BER being extended: as well as adding control systems for the mechanical smoke extraction systems installed by other contractors (including smoke extraction ducts, ventilators and dampers), Siemens control technology will in future also be used to pump fresh air into the buildings in the event of a fire.
