Ares Reportedly in Talks to Acquire Farrow & Ball
Nov 17 14
Ares Private Equity Group is holding talks to acquire Farrow & Ball Ltd. The deal is worth £300 million, it was revealed on November 16, 2014. Ares is thought to have made a bid of £250 million and £300 million. The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days. European Capital Financial Services (Guernsey) Ltd. has appointed NM Rothschild earlier in 2014 to look for a buyer. It is understood that a number of the world's largest private equity firms have shown interest in the subsequent auction. These firms include The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG), TPG Capital, L.P., Bain Capital, LLC, 3i Group plc (LSE:III) and Investcorp Bank B.S.C. (BAX:INVCORP). Ares and European Capital declined to comment when contacted by City A.M.
Four Funds Reportedly Eyes Farrow & Ball
Oct 23 14
American buyout firms The Carlyle Group LP (NasdaqGS:CG) and Bain Capital, LLC are reportedly among a group of four private equity funds preparing second-round bids for Farrow & Ball Ltd. The others bidders are Investcorp Bank B.S.C. (BAX:INVCORP) and Ares Private Equity Group, the sources said on condition of anonymity because the process is confidential. Farrow & Ball, which is advised by Rothschild, could be valued at about £250 million, representing a multiple of 11 times its pro forma earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of 23 million pounds, the sources said. However, the private equity bidders will first need to go through an interim round to table their offers ahead of a November 3, 2014 deadline to reduce the shortlist further, the sources said.
