Artesyn Embedded Technologies Unveils ControlSafe Expansion Box Platform
Sep 22 16
At the InnoTrans exhibition, Artesyn Embedded Technologies unveiled the ControlSafe Expansion Box Platform a COTS computing system designed to be certified to SIL4, which can substantially accelerate time-to-market for the deployment of new and upgrades to train control and rail signaling systems. The platform, an extension of the company's ControlSafe Platform, with a larger chassis to house larger I/O modules, can either be configured as a dual-redundant safety system like the ControlSafe Platform or deployed as an I/O expansion subsystem. The company will demonstrate the ControlSafe product portfolio - including both the ControlSafe Expansion Box Platform and the ControlSafe Platform variants -- at the InnoTrans exhibition (Hall 6.1, booth 226) in Berlin, Germanybetween September 20 and 23, 2016. The company's ControlSafe product portfolio is designed to meet all the functional safety, reliability and availability requirements mandated by rail standards and specifications. It implements an innovative data lock-step architecture and hardware-based voting mechanism that supports high performance modern processors, and is modular, scalable and designed to seamlessly accommodate additional I/O interfaces as well as upgraded processors that will be required throughout the product life cycle. In addition, the ControlSafe Expansion Box Platform and ControlSafe Platform allow application developers to migrate existing application software with minimal modifications. Deployable in both wayside and carborne applications, the company's ControlSafe platforms are designed to support a broad range of I/O modules such as CAN, Ethernet, Ethernet Ring, UART, digital, analog and GPS/Wireless. The company can also develop specific I/O solutions to meet unique application requirements.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces New AXA 25W Series of Rugged
Sep 20 16
Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the new AXA 25W Series of rugged, high density 25 watt dc-dc converters that provide OEMs with a cost-effective solution for diverse low power applications in areas such as industrial automation, instrumentation, test and measurement, and telecommunications. Encapsulated in a compact metal 1.0 x 1.0 x 0.4 inch (25.4 x 25.4 x 10.16 mm) package with isolated baseplate, the AXA 25W series offers up to 90% efficiency and covers an ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range; nominally 24 V or 48 V (9 - 36 Vdc and 18 - 75 Vdc) available in single- or dual-output variants. The proven rugged design and encapsulation of this converter family enables operation in harsh environments. Artesyn's AXA 25W Series consists of single 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V and 15 V output models together with +12/-12 and +15/-15 V dual output models. These dc-dc modules can operate from minus 40 degrees Celsius up to 85 degrees Celsius. The converters offer additional features such as overload protection, remote on/off control, input-to-output isolation voltage of 1500 Vdc, and - on single output models - the output voltage can be trimmed by +/- 10% of the nominal output. All models are approved to CSA/NTRL/IEC/EN 60950-1 for IT equipment.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL4) Certification
Aug 17 16
Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced Safety Integrity Level 4 (SIL4) certification for the Artesyn Embedded Computing Inc. ControlSafe Platform (CSP) with ControlSafe Computer (CSC) and ControlSafe Software, one of the first embedded computing systems to use commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components to create a fail-safe and fault-tolerant computing platform for a wide range of train control and rail signaling applications. The ControlSafe Platform enables rail application developers and system integrators to substantially accelerate time-to-market without being deterred by the potentially high costs and risks associated with the stringent SIL4 system development and certification process, a process that can take multiple years to accomplish.
