Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced a new high performance VME single board computer, the MVME8105, to provide more computing performance, data throughput and long life cycle support for a range of high end industrial control, C4ISR and mission critical applications. Artesyn’s VME boards have been widely used for more than 30 years in applications such as semiconductor processing equipment (SPE), photo lithography, radar, sonar and train control, which often require backwards compatible technology insertions over a long time in deployment and use. The company has recently made a commitment to continue supply of many of its existing VME boards to 2025 and beyond while continuing to grow its portfolio of VME products to give customers choice, flexibility and reassurance in this trusted technology. Featuring the Freescale QorIQ P5020 2.0 GHz processor, the MVME8105 provides 4 GB soldered DDR3-1333 MHz ECC memory, 512 K MRAM non-volatile memory and 8 GB eMMC NAND Flash. It offers multiple USB, Serial and Ethernet ports and supports a range of operating systems including Wind River VxWorks, Linux and Green Hills Integrity.
Clavister Announces Reseller Agreement with Artesyn Embedded Technologies

Clavister has announced a reseller agreement with Artesyn Embedded Technologies. Artesyn will offer Clavister’s products and solutions to its key markets and customers. Clavister’s virtualized security software will be integrated onto Artesyn’s computing hardware, realising secure platforms of unprecedented performance and capacity. The relationship will also see the two companies collaborating to conduct joint research into securing next-generation IT and communications infrastructures. The collaboration follows a longer period of joint development of solutions for the telecoms industry, specifically securing LTE/4G mobile networks. Using Artesyn’s hardware acceleration and load balancing technologies and Clavister’s next-generation, highly scalable multi-core data-plane technology, the partners have achieved a throughput of 1 Tbps of firewalling and 400Gbps of IPsec VPN throughput on a bladed server platform. Clavister and Artesyn anticipate strong, mutual growth from the collaboration.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies Announces First Model in Second Generation of its Popular MicroMP Configurable Power Supply Series

Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the first model in the second generation of its popular MicroMP (µMP) configurable power supply series, the µMP16. With a new higher maximum power output of 1800 watts, the µMP16 offers a power density of 22.9 W/in3 and efficiency of up to 91%, making it even more cost effective for equipment that has multiple power input requirements. The power supply case features six slots that users can configure from a wide variety of adjustable power modules, ranging from 0.9 to 60 Volts, enabling nearly limitless output power configurations across up to 12 outputs. With modules connected in series the µMP16 can achieve output voltages up to 360 Vdc. The µMP series is already powering equipment such as MRI, CT and PET scanners, microbiology diagnostic systems, test and measurement systems, and industrial equipment such as paper processing machines; the next generation is set to bring a new level of flexibility and functionality to these and many more applications. This new generation µMP series has been redesigned with greater digital integration for increased reliability and a 36% reduction in fan noise over the first generation product. The new µMP series is just one line in Artesyn's portfolio of configurable power supplies, which are renowned for their outstanding performance and reliability and for being cost effective. Designed to ensure high efficiency and reliability even in extreme environmental conditions the new µMP16 is rated for performance at temperatures from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. It can withstand a shock of more than 50 G and meets the MIL-STD-810G specification for vibration. The calculated mean time between failures is more than 350,000 hours at full load. Conformal coating is also available as an option. The power supply is fully approved to the third edition of the EN60601-1 and UL ES60601-1 medical safety standards and with 2X Means of Patient Protection (MOPP), it can be used in non-patient contact and non-patient critical equipment.
