AAlstom SA ansd DCNS Team Up in Floating Wind Energy Field
Oct 13 14
The renewable energy unit of Alstom SA and the marine energy and infrastructure division of naval shipbuilder DCNS entered into a partnership agreement with regard to the project called SEA REED. The goal of the alliance is to be able to manufacture by 2017 a 6-MW machine combining Alstom's Haliade 150 offshore wind turbine and a semi-submersible floating system developed by DCNS. As part of the collaboration, Alstom will conduct studies to adapt and integrate the Haliade platform with the floating system. At the same time, DCNS will look into the behaviour, sizing, industrialisation and installation of the machine. The scheme is backed by EUR 6 million (USD 7.6 million) in funds from the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (ADEME). The financing is being provided to cover the initial study and certification phase.
