Pemex Exploración y Producción has appointed Gustavo Hernández García as its new CEO, who will take the helm with immediate effect. Hernández García has worked in Mexico's oil and gas sector for more than 30 years, both as an academic and researcher at the Mexican petroleum institute (IMP) and in various posts within Pemex. The positions he has held include oil wells director, deputy director of offshore production and head of planning for the northeastern offshore area. He was also PEP's deputy director of planning and was president of the national college of oil engineers until 2012. Hernández García was formally appointed to the post by Mexican president Enrique Pena Nieto.

Mr. Emilio Lozoya Austin, Director General of Petróleos Mexicanos, accepted the resignation of Mr. Carlos Morales Gil as Director General of Pemex-Exploration and Production (PEP), a subsidiary of Petróleos Mexicanos. Mr. Gustavo Hernández García, who has served as Deputy Director of Planning and Evaluation of PEP since 2010, will replace Mr. Carlos Morales Gil as Acting Director General of PEP.
